Re: Ranks

Vika will be eighth seed at Wimbledon officially (assuming she plays ) now I believe because the only top players in Birmingham (barring a wildcard) are Empress, who is above her regardless, and Fistpump, who would still be behind her even with 470 additional points. Could be worse, but could also lead to a very tough draw . She only has points to gain on grass, but unless she can miraculously gain a huge amount, staying in the top ten could get dicey during the hard court season.

Re: Ranks

Yeah I just hope she can maintain enough of the Carlsbad/Cincinnati points enough to not have a disastrous seeding at the US Open.

Re: Ranks

Seeded 8 is good. Now we just need to know her first match which is likely to be most difficult

Vika Azarenka is still at top 10, but in August 2014 there will be lots of ranking points to defend: Carlsbad/San Diego (disappeared on the WTA tour map), Cincinnati and US Open.

Re: Ranks

Fistpump is playing Stanford the week that Carlsbad points drop, so I think falling out of the top ten is guaranteed unless she takes a late entry into something before Montreal.

Re: Ranks

I really hope she takes a late entry somewhere, not just for her ranking but for her game. She needs more rhythm.

This summer is her entire ranking and she can't gain anything anywhere. I'm so mortified she'll be unseeded and looming by Melbourne.

Well even if she drops after the US open the fall is a big chance but the YEC is very questionable right now . Maybe she could play the MM one .

Re: Ranks

I also agree she needs to play more. It is no good with a long break now. If she is completely healthy now that is. Not to worried about the ranking. Could almost be interesting when she starts to play well again and have nothing to defend. (After US Open)

Re: Ranks

Yeah the YEC looks like a long shot this year unless Vika really ramps it up from now.

Re: Ranks

when is her next tournament?

she needs a revival US series, otherwise her whole 2014 is a lost cause. with her condition right now, she wouldn't have managed the YEC round robin format with aggressive hitters.

someone should change her official website, it still says 'current world no.2'

At the moment it seems that Vika's next match will be in Philadelphia on July 15, 2014.

Her next tournament should be The Canadian Open (aka Rogers Cup) in Montreal from August 1, 2014 to August 10, 2014.
