I'm eventually resolving to create a thread for Ksyusha too! She's 15 (born Jan 20, 2001), from Minsk (like almost all the other youngsters), and interestingly, a leftie (I feel like she's the only girl, amongst the decently promising players of then country, who plays left-handed
At the beginning of last year, she still was the leader of the 2001 girls in her country (hence why she played Les Petits As that year, and not Kubareva) but by summer '15 Anna Kubareva had already passed her.
I've never seen her play, so not sure why she's stagnated so much in the last 2 years... but I hope she has a good run to an U18 final soon, which could unlock a lot of things mentally, and that generally she manages to fix her technical flaws and improve her game, and to exploit her leftiness as much as possible!
So far this year, she's made only 2 G16 finals (... in Cyprus
), one SF appearance at a G4 in Sweden, plus 2 more QF appearances at G4s in Tunisia & Estonia... and that's about all. :-/ (She's won a few titles in doubles, though!
Her W-L record for the year so far is: 20-15; she's ranked #479 this week, not fra from her CHR of 425.
