Aliona's big sister Zlata (1998 born) used to compete in juniors as well! (without much success though :crying2
Aliona is 12 (born March 29, 2014), she won the U12 Belarusian Championships a few weeks ago - both in singles & doubles (with Evialina Laskevich).
She's won 1 title (G12 April Cup in Turkey, beating Eda Arli 1 & 3 in the final), and has reached 2 more finals (at G12 Pirogovskiy Cup in Moscow, where she lost 3 & 3 to Diana Shnaider in the final, and at G12 Boris Skorodumov Memorial this week in Pinsk, where she got double-bagelled by... Shnaider in the final ) in singles so far this year.
I didn't expect her to get double-bagelled by Diana yesterday tbh, given that Diana struggled against Valentina Efremova & Ilaryia Grudino in her previous 2 matches... Looks like we're having a possible pigeonry in the making.
She also played the unofficial U12 Slam, Open Super 12, in France in February. Beat Ninon Martinache 4 & 1 in R1, but lost 6-1 4-6 0-6 to (WC)Sarah Mueller in R2. :-/ Ali0na
She also played her first G14 this year: she received a MDWC at Cat. 2 G14 Smena Cup in Minsk in January, and lost to qualifier Anastasia Rakita in 3 sets in R1.
This is her first year of intensive competing (last year she only played 3 tournies, and 1 in 2014) actually, she's not doing to bad!
Hopefully she has a nice progression, GL to her in the future! Davayyy!
