To complete my current thread-creating spree :oh:... their results are not overly impressive (at least so far) but heck, I can't ignore a pair of Belarusian twins who share a birthday with me! :D :inlove:

They're 14 yos (born May 3, 2002), from Minsk. :)

Their best results in singles so far this year are:
- for Ksyusha: 2 SFs, at Cat. 2 G16 Pinsk Open & Cat. 2 G14 Riga Open; plus 1 more QF, at Cat. 2 G14 Slovan Open in Bratislava
- for Sonya: 2 SFs as well, at home tournaments Cat. 2 G14s Smena Cup & Minsk Star; plus 2 more QFs, at Cat. 2 G14s Opalenica Cup & Riga Open

:bounce:

This week at Riga Open: Sonya was the 8th seed, beat qualifier Eva Zazdraniha 2 & 1 in R1 and Adelina Norvaisyte 3 & 1 in R2, lost 4 & 2 to eventual champion 4th seed Maria Shusharina in QF; Ksyusha was the 5th seed, she beat WC Dariia Monakhova 1 & 4 in R1, double-bagelled WC Anija Paula Ozolina in R2, and beat 2nd seed Khimchi Shavit 2 & 0 in QF :yeah:, lost 7-6(5) 1-6 1-6 to 3rd seed Jana Kolodynska in SF

They also have pretty good results in doubles, although - fun fact - they're never pairing up together  (I'm pretty intrigued as to why is that!)

They current rankings in U14 are 71 (CHR 65) for Ksyusha, and 98 for Sonya. Hopefully they make it to the Top 50 asap, davayte!!! :cheer::cheer:

Last year, Ksyusha reached 1 final in singles, at G14 Artic TE14 (she lost 0 & 4 to Clara Tauson in the final ) in Norway in November; her 2nd best singles result was a SF appearance at G14 Viva Trophy in Romania.
As for Sonya, she didn't make a single SF actually... :hysteric:

Some pics of Sonya at G14 Minsk Star this year!

... and of Ksyusha at Belkanton Cup (she made the final in doubles with Nastya Abramovich :hearts: they lost a close final vs. Aleshina/Dementyeva)

Ksyusha played Cat. 2 G14 International Tournament Liepaja this week (but not Sonya... )

She was the 4th seed, beat Anna Chekanskaya 3 & 4 in R1, and Klaudija Bubelyte 1 & 1 in R2, lost 4 & 2 to local leftie 6th seed Patricija Spaka in QF today... MEH. :-/

with Vika & BFF Vlada Zvereva in Piter (they're playing the tournament there next week!) :hearts:

This week the twins played G4 TATS Open in Finland, Ksyusha lost 3-6 6-7(8) to 5th seed Wiktoria Rutkowska (#506) in R1, and Sonya beat Viktoria Glotova 6-4 4-6 6-3 in R1, lost 3 & 2 to 3rd seed Alise Cernecka (#539) in R2 :-/

Hopefully they have more success next week! :cheer::cheer:

G5 Green Cup in St-Pet. Ksyusha was the 8th seed, she beat Alina Lebedeva 1 & 3 in R1, but she lost 4 & 3 to Mariya Ponomareva in R2 today. :( Sonya is through to the QFs: she beat lucky loser Polina Kudermetova 6-4 2-6 6-2 in R1, and 17 yo WC Valeriya Denisova (who upset 7th seed Selekhmeteva in straights in R1) 1 & 0 in R2! :yeah:

QF vs. top seed Anastasia Kharitonova (16 yo, #275, CHR 164) :scared: :cheer:

G5 BelGlobal Cup in Minsk. Ksyusha lost 4-6 6-1 6-7(3) to 3rd seed Veronika Pepelyaeva (#471) in R1, while Sonya snatched a good R1 win over Sofiya Chekhlystova, 6-7(3) 6-3 6-3. :awww:

I'm unhappy that they drew these girls in R1: I love Nika so I'm happy she won, but what a tough loss for Ksyusha (so close - by looking at the scoreline she probably won more points than Nika in total - and at home) and a very good win for Sonya, especially after losing a close first set to her opponent who was the favourite (Sofiya is not in good form though)! :yeah: Ksyusha is my favourite twin though, so I kinda wish the results were reversed :sobbing: :oh:

Sonya routined 6th seed Arina Solomatina (#560, CHR 448) 3 & 4 in R2  :yeah: but she lost a close match to leftie qualifier Patricija Spaka (same age) in QF today, 2-6 6-3 4-6   Patu is a decent player though, so this is not bad!

I'm taking comfort in the fact that the dubs final is gonna be 100% Belarusian though! :awww: Ksyusha & Vika have qualified for the final with a nice 6-4 7-6(5) win over 2nd seeds Afanasyeva/Solomatina in SF today (and in QF they beat 4th seeds Chekhlystova/Saar - which was even a better win imo! :D -, 3-6 6-4 [10-3]) :bigclap:, and they'll face 16 yo WCs Davidzenka/Fleyer (who are lovely too and who upset top seeds Volodko/Yersh in QF) in the final! :hearts: :bounce:

Sonya paired up with Vlada but they gave a WO in R1 :bigwave:

The twins played the U16 National Championships this week: Ksyusha beat Aleksandra Efremova 1 & 2 in R1, fell 5-7 3-6 to 5th seed Vlada Zvereva (2001) in R2; Sonya was the 8th seed, she beat Aliaksandra Lebedeva 2 & 3 in R1 and double-bagelled Dziyana Churylava in R2, then lost 4 & 3 to 2nd seed Anna Kubareva (2001) in QF today.:hug:

In doubles, they both reached the SFs with their respective partners: Sonya & Vlada Zvereva were the 3rd seeds and fell 6-7(4) 1-6 to top seeds Kubareva/Yersh in SFs, while Ksyusha & Vika Kanapatskaya were the 2nd seeds and were upset by 4th seeds Yakubovich/Shumeika 3-6 6-2 [4-10] in SFs :awww:
