Shalya! :awww: :hearts:

She's 15 yo (born Dec 6, 2000) and today she snatched a great win over 5th seed Sviatlana Pirazhenka (WTA 530, CHR 371) in Q2 of Minsk, 3-6 6-4 6-4 (she had a bye in Q1) :clap2:
She will face Hanna Sokal (who is 2 years older and took out 14th seed Belova in 3 sets in Q2) tomorrow in Q3 for a spot in the MD - that's a great opportunity for a 25K MD appearance, davayyy! :armed: :cheer:

Last week, she had a bye in Q1 and lost 1 & 4 to 4th seed Anna Kalinskaya in Q2... Anna went on to win the title yesterday. ;)
In doubles she & her partner Katya Paulenka scored a great win: they beat E. Ianchuk/Paquet (both Top 350 players in singles) 2-6 6-3 [10-6] in R1 :worship:, before falling to 4th seeds Morgina/Pirazhenka in the next round, 2 & 2.

Hopefully they pair up again next week! :cheer::cheer: GL in singles & doubles, Shalya - for next week and furthermore! :bounce:

Katya & Shalya strike again, they've just routined top seeds E. Ianchuk/Marozava 2 & 3 in R1 :bolt:  :inlove: Marozava has broken into the Top 100 in doubles this week!

What a glorious day for them! :bigclap:

Shalya drew fellow qualifier Vivien Juhaszova (WTA 434) in R1, lost 3 & 4

Can't blame her, she obviously fought hard and Vivien is a decent player who is much more experienced (she's almost 23) ;)

The girls did pretty well against last week's champions Eikeri/Pigossi in QF yesterday - they lost 2-6 6-4 [3-10] :awww: :yeah:

Good work :yeah: Hopefully they play together more in the future :cheer:

Congrats to Shalya on winning her first U18 title last week! :yippee: :D

She won G5 Babolat Cup in Kiev: she beat Kateryna Zadorozhna 4 & 3 in R1, 6th seed Yaroslava Gadiatska (#654) 4 & 2 in R2, received a WO from WC Anna Sierkova in QF, beat qualifier Julia Starodubtsewa 6-4 7-5, and 2nd seed Daria Orichkevitch (#529, 1 year 1/2 older) 5-7 7-6(5) 2-0 ret. :woohoo: :bigclap: :hearts:

Ok, she got pretty lucky I'll admit, but she did it and that's what matters! I wonder if she saved some actual championship points? :oh:

This actually was her first ever final, yes, she hadn't even made an U12-14-16 final before but she actually has played very little as compared to most players! She'll eventually break into the Top 1000, and she deserves it so much because she's so much better than her ranking :hysteric: Hopefully this gives her good confidence in her abilities and she makes more finals by the end of the year :cheer:

Some pics from G4 Gennadi Petrov Memorial Cup in Minsk, where Shalya reached the final a couple months ago: she double-bagelled Adelina Soldatkina in R1, beat top seed Weronika Falksowska (#294) 1 & 4 in R2, 5th seed Ekaterina Spirina 4-6 6-2 6-1 in QF, and Margaryta Bilokin 4-6 6-2 6-2 in SF, lost 5-7 4-6 to 2nd seed Elizaveta Voldko (who is a year older) in the final  Good week! :yeah:

Since then she's played 2 tournaments: G4 Riga Open (lost 5-7 5-7 to Rebeka Margareta Mertena in R1), and G2 Moser Czech Junior Open (she beat Aneta Laboutkova 3 & 3 in R1, and 15th seed Anastasia Abramyan 2 & 1 in R2, lost 2-6 6-7(6) to 2nd seed and eventual runner-up Astrid Brune Olsen in R3).

So Shalya drew 13th seed Anastasia Zarytska (18 yo, junior CHR 21, WTA 622) in Q1... :( It's gonna be tough, Nastya is a pretty good pusher and she won 10K Ismaning a week ago :scared: GL! :armed: :cheer:

Shalya lost 1-6 6-7(4) to Nastya :awww:

That's actually not a bad effort! :yeah: Too bad she didn't manage to push a tad further at the end of the 2nd set, and win the TB... Nastya is an emotional mess and it would have been interesting to see what'd have happened in a 3rd set
