She lost a very, very close match against the top seed Anna-Lena Friedsam in R2, 1-6 6-4 6-7(4).
It's a bit frustrating she lost it because she even had 2 MPs (at 5-4*), and led *4-3 in the final set TB.
But wow. She played a very competitive match against the top seed of a 100K (ranked 115 in the world currently, CHR of 107), even took a set off her, had a couple of MPs, and pushed her to a final set TB. She deserves a
& huge congrats for this.
I admit I never expected this - just a competitive 4-6 or 5-7 set would have satisfied me actually. She fought a lot out there, she was down a break in both last sets but managed to break back twice, and even the 1st set - in which she was breadsticked - actually was quite close, with lots of games going to deuce.
Hope she won't be too disappointed with the 2 MPs missed on Friedsam's serve and will take lots of positives from this performance, especially self-confidence wise, believing that she can compete with at least Top 200 girls. Head up, Sveta. You showed a lot today.
