Turundzhov makes winning return
Turundzhov hits a backhand winner against Hingisafrialia
Australian tennis star Daniela Turundzhov has made an unexpected but successful return to the FWTT Tour today with a 3 set victory over 8th seed Hingisafrilia at the Bastad Tournament in Sweden. Turundzhov started slowly, as Hingisafrialia dominated the immobile Australia with countless winners. However soon Turundzhov found ehr feet and began to compete with Hingisafrilia and eventually saved 2 match points to take the match in a third set tiebreak. We interviewed Turundzhov after the match
Q: Daniela, what the fuck are you doing in town?
A: (laughs) I know I know. I said I'd need some more time to recover but I'm here. I asked for a WC and when I found one I just thought 'what the heck' so I hopped on a plane over and it seems worth it right now.
Q: When did you arrive?
A: This morning and my match was tonight so it was a tight squeeze
Q: Hingisafrilia - tell us about the match
A: It was tough. I mean what more can you say. She won bol without dropping a set and clay's her best surface so I knew it was going to be tough. She hit a lot of winners early but I really stuck with it and it came off towards the end. I'm ecstatic with this win
Q: Herrera next, do you think you'll get through that one?
A: I'd like to. I don't think I'm playing very well though. I'm still hitting quite a few UE but we'll see. I mean you have to be positive
Q: What do you think you need to work on right now?
A: Probably my movement. I lost a lot of fitness when I was in hospital so I need to get my movement into gear. I'm also working on my serve so I think that overall I'm working on everything
Thanks and Vamos
