Q.How have you prepared for wimbledon?

Monica-Well after loosing in eastboourne i stayed there for a few days to practice then i came here to practice since saturday with my sister,Sophia Sabatini and Rosie Ribbons

Q.Are you looking forward to playing here again?

Monica-Defo last year i lost 6-1 7-6 to Larisa Liashnko but i got a lot of home support it was a shame i lost but it was a great experience and i'm glad to be back.

Q.Your playing a qualifyer in round 1 like in roland Garros. Are you a bit nervous?

Monica-Quite last time i lost so i want revenge and i don't want a third straight loss in a grandslam so i'll fight hard and hope i can win.

Monica-Well she has been ill over the past week shes been having really bad headaches since the french open, she thinks its exhaustion so after wimbledon shes decided to take a break from tennis for about a month. At the moment she isn't withdrawing but we will have to wait and see how she feels

Eggert Gets Ready for Wimbledon and Wedding

Tiffani Eggert is having her best year in her career so far. Taking her second title of the year and first on grass last week at Eastbourne was a real shock. Whats more, the winner of Eastbourne in the past two years has gone on to win Wimbledon. That may be a tall order, since Eggert's best finish at The Championships is the third round. To make matters even more difficult, Eggert and her fiance and coach, Robert Appelmans are taking care of all last minute details for their wedding on July 14.

"Right now I am looking to play some good tennis at Wimbledon, I am very happy with my game right now. I have a lot on my mind, but hopefully that won't get in the way."

Eggert's schedule is very busy, after Wimbledon is completed, she will switch back to the clay and play in Brussels. On the Sunday of that tournament, Eggert plans to wed. Players on the guest list include: Larisa Ferrer, Ruflina Taliamonosoko, Jane Wong, Brenda Van Haak, Marteena Huubere, Sabine Graf, Sandy Vicario, Paula Masterton, and several others. Also former pro, Tami Sugarn is expected to attend.

Eggert takes on Frenchwomen Francois L'ane in the first round.

Taliamanosoko ready for Wimbledon

Coming off a defending final at the French Open, FWTT #2 ranked player, Ruflina Taliamanosoko, is ready to do the same at Wimbledon.

Last year, two sweltering quarterfinals that went into triple overtime send Sabine Graf against Taliamanosoko for the final. Graf, the more experienced of grass, took the match and her first grand slam. Ruflina later went on to win the US Open, but she says Wimbledon is where her heart is.

This is the most special tournament to me. I hold it in such high regard as the biggest and most important tournament of the entire year. Last year I made the final and won mixed doubles. That put me on cloud nine for the rest of the year and I continued to do well, so I essentially build my year around this event.

Taliamanosoko hits a forehand to Sabine Graf in last years final

Taliamanosoko is paired in the doubles competiton with Jane Wong and mixed doubles with husband and coach Ikumbo Kimjumba.

We live and train together during most of the year, so our relationships on the court translate into success, sometimes. Jane and I had it hard earlier in the year, but we were able to win Amelia Island and the French Open. So, it's all good.

Ruflina and Jane had played non-stop from Sydeny in January until the French Open doubles final in Paris. The past 2 weeks, they finally had a week off.

The first week, I went back to San Diego and did nothing. Ikumbo and the 2 kids lived as a family, it was nice. It was like a vacation, but we were at home. Then, the next week, I met up with Jane and we started practicing on some grass courts she has at her house, but they were light. We arrived in England on Saturday night and have been adjusting to the time and grass here at Wimbledon. We both love it.

Liashenko focused and confident about Wimbledon

Reutuers

I sat down with Larissa Liashenko, a winner of 3 titles this year, during a practice session.

Question: Larissa, would you say that your game is back?

Liashenko: It's getting there but I don't think I'm playing as well as I was in Australia but it's definetly better then during the clay court season for sure.

Question: Do you think you can do some damage here?

Liashenko: Of course I can! I've won a grass tournament two weeks ago so I'm a player to watch in my opinion. Last week in Eastbourne, I had a let down but the girl played well.

Question: Will you be playing doubles and mixed doubles here?

Liashenko: Yes, doubles with Anna Kroulikova and mixed with Nicolay Davydenko.

Question: Thanks. I'll let you go back to the practice court.

Liashenko: Thank you.

Singles Race to Chase updated!!!!

For those who are curious, I have finally updated the singles race to chase on the FWTT website.

There you can see the top 25 in the singles race for this year, how many pts they have, how many tournaments they have played, and the pts they have earnt from each and every tournament they have played this year.

The direct link:

I hope you guys like it!

BTW - the doubles (individual and team) should be done by the end of the week. Hopefully, the money list will be updated soon too.
