In Singapore Miranda Frost is in the white group where she will face the hard court champions, Tina Faye-Falcon (US Open) and Nadia Banaszek (Australian Open) as well as Jennifer Casanova against whom she has won all of her five meetings in 2017 so far.
Q: Miranda, what are your expectations for this Championships?
Miranda: Well, I am here for the title. I love this Round Robin system and competing against the best of the world.
Q: Some tennis followers may remember that you won 3 consecutive Championships titles back in junior.
Miranda: Yes, I was the Championships princess back than. The third one was the sweetest. I managed to go out of juniors on a high and get a nice birthday present for my following 18th birthday, given that Juniors YEC were played at Christmas time back in the days.
Q: What has been in your way for the Championships title on FWTT in the past two seasons?
Miranda: I lost 6:7(6) in the semifinals against Vittoria Perez in 2015, it was a really close match where I couldn't convert 3 MPs earlier. Last season I had another very close loss in a two set tiebreak match against Jennifer Casanova in the RR group. Those were painful but meaningful lessons for me as I worked hard on my mental toughness during the off seasons.
Q: What are your thoughts about the white group you are in?
Miranda: I consider it the toughest of the two groups as you have players who are excellent hard court players in this group. I got this "group of death" vibe when first looking at it and I foresee alot of close matches and scenarios.
Q: Apart from singles you are also qualified with Xhaka Ymer in doubles. What are your expectations in doubles?
Miranda: We have shown in the past that we raise our level in the big tournaments and want to repeat the feature from the doubles final in 2015. In the second half of the season we have found something what was missing in our partnership - consistency.
Q: Thanks and good luck!
