Harlow Hoping to Overcome Miami Slump
Bianka Harlow during her first round exit to Tina Faye Falcon in 2016.
It's been 7 years since Bianka Harlow has won a singles match in Miami. The year was 2010. The opponent was Siri Cornetsson. Now, Bianka finds herself in a familiar place hoping for a very different outcome. "I just haven't been able to ever really find my grove in Miami", Harlow shared. "It's pretty terrible to think my last win was 7 years ago against Siri."
Harlow begins her attempt to break history with a first-round match against fellow German, Sabine Graf. Harlow, the 5th seed, and Graf have played each other 8 times with Harlow up in the head-to-head, 5-3. After an incredible end to 2016 which included a US Open finalist as well as winning the YEC Championship, Harlow has struggled to achieve consistent results in 2017. "I'm hoping that last week's semi-final will increase my confidence on the US hard courts before the switch the clay. I just need to trust my instincts."
Harlow is also in the doubles draw with newcomer, Laska. The pair finally won a match reaching the semi-final in Indian Wells last week and hope to continue that streak.
