Re: Jelena Ostapenko

She seems promising indeed!
Looks like she has a twin sister, Aljona, who seems to be far less good when it comes to tennis tho.

Jelena receives a maindraw wildcard in Pomezia and draws 8 seed Gioia Barbieri. Good luck!!!!

Re: Jelena Ostapenko

From the bits I saw of her at the Australian Open, she is a very good player. But for her to reach the upper echelons of the game, there are many many many tthings to e changed. With her current game, she will make a career high of 300 IMO. Her forehand shanks often, she cant volley and her movement is good but cant hit the ball on the run. Her roundstrokes are great for pace but whenever she plays a big hitter who she cant get on top of, she loses because she cant defend. A ood player but unless she makes some changes, she wont reach the goals she wants. Her game simply has a limit unlike someone like ash bartys or taylor townsends. She also has to put too much effort into her shots to hit it hard because she doesnt have any easy power, meaning unforced errors can seep in.

(wc)Jelena Ostapenko (LAT) d. (LL)Sharmada Balu (IND) 75 60

Also, the first seed, who was in Jelena's quarter, lost her match. A real chance for another semi, it would be awesome

Re: Jelena Ostapenko

Agnes zucchini is actually good though. Claudine Schaul might be better than she seems. Anyway, lets hope she can pick up some more points. She officially has a ranking after last week but the ITF records ranking points a week later, so after this week, last weeks points wukk come through and then these points. She is on the list for 25K italy, but she is well down the alternate list

I only made GM threads when Anett beat a TOP 100 Player, not an unranked luxembourgish player

Zucchini abandoned in the first set, when Jelena was 4-1 in the lead.

Such a good performance by her to make back to back semis
