Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

I'm really interested in this player! Does anyone have pics, or can someone describe her and her game style a bit more? Just beat Marta Domachowska in 1st round - that's a big result for her! Bartoli up next - would love to see her take that match as well!!!!

Yoiu should take a look in iPatty's Charleston reports Thread, there are three pretty long reports on her matches.

Super win for Nastja on her birthday! Second WTA win & first since Istanbul '07

Rest in Peace Bally!

Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

You can check out my impressions of her game style in my Charleston reports thread. Another good win for Nastja today, she really had to focus at the end and fight hard to beat Domachowska who isn't as pitiful as most of her fans make her out to be.

When she said that she played Bartoli next I said "we'll see what happens" and she said "yeah I like playing against girls that hit the ball like her so I should be fine." Nice to hear her sound so confident after Ballbasher told me about her collapse the last time she lost a tight WTA match. Seems like she will keep this upward momentum going (she has won twelve of her last fourteen matches).

Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

Nastja won all her matches in Fed Cup, including the deciding doubles rubber against Portugal. She also had wins over Top200 players Larcher de Brito and Tatishvili.

$100K+H Johannesburg:

R1: (4)Anastasija Sevastova (LAT) d. Lena Litvak (USA) 61 64

Pretty nice draw here until the semis, so she should be picking up some points.

Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

Johannesburg R2:Sevastova[4] d. Potgieter[wc] 7-5 6-3
Thse two wins were must wins! So I'm happy she wo them in straights, as she must be tired from Fed Cup:
Next up: Albanese[5]. I think she has a tough one there and I expect her to lose this it

Rest in Peace Bally!

Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

QF:Sevastova[4] d. Albanese[5] 7-6(5) 7-6(3)
Doubles SF:Kucova/Sevastova d. du Plessis/Potgieter[wc] 6-0 6-3

Good results there for Nastja! I think the long trip to South Africa was worth it! Her next opponent will be her Doubles partner, Kristina Kucova. She upset Misa Krajicek today, so I think it'll be very tough for Nastja! I still wish her a lot of luck!

Doubles F:Cavaday/Tsurenk vs Kucova/Sevastova
They have good shot there I think

Rest in Peace Bally!

Re: Rising star - Anastasija Sevastova!

It will be a very tough match tomorrow, but she can draw confidence from the fact that she already beat Kucova once this year. But I imagine she is exhausted from coming straight after Fed Cup and with her allergic reaction. That could explain the tough scorelines.
