has done pretty well so far this year.
She's played 3 tournaments so far: first a couple of G5s in Israel, she reached the final of the first one (with a good routine win over 3rd seed Barad Itzhaki in R2, and another good win over fellow 2002 girl Pia Lovric - who seems pretty decent - in 3 sets in SF, and a 6-2 3-6 4-6 loss to top seed Ohana in the final
) and made the SFs of the second (fell 5-7 6-3 5-7 to WC Shavit Kimchi in SF
); and this week, she's through to the QFs of the G4 in Finland (she beat Alena Nikishina 2 & 2 in R1 yesterday, and 6th seed Liisa Vehvilainen (15 yo, Top 600) 2 & 2 as well in R2 today
As for Maša
otoh, it's a whole other story.
She's played the same tournaments as Dasa, has scored only 1 MD win so far - a 3-set win in R1 of the first Israeli G5 (and she did push 4th seed Nasibyan to 3 sets in R2 though
). At the 2nd Israeli G5, she went through the qualies but won only 1 game against 4th seed Barad Itzhaki in R1, and at Finland she was the top seed in qualies but lost her first Q match to Isabelle Haverlag, 6-2 2-6 2-6.
Daša will face top seed Ana Makatsaria (2 years older than her, #269) in QF, GL!
And looking at their results in the 2nd part of last year, I'm seeing Daša won 1 title, 3 months ago at the Cat. 3 G14 in Nastola, Finland (she received a WO from Maša in the final
), plus she was runner-up of a Cat. 3 G16 in Luxembourg in Sept (she lost 6-7(8) 3-6 to Maria Bondarenko in the final). As for Maša, she won 2 Cat. 3 G14, (in Sept in Luxembourg with a 6-7(7) 6-3 7-5 win over Nicole Palecek in the final, and in Denmark in November with a 2 & 1 thrashing of Nikoline Gullacksen in the final).
