I was very ecstatic yesterday because this is my first time going to a tournament
The train ride wasn't so bad either (to Yokohama then Oimachi then Kokusai Tenjijo and the tournament is right there). When I got there I saw Shaughnessy and Dulko practicing with each other. Megz was looking really good and attacking all the balls. Dulko was having a hard time adjusting, but her groundstrokes eventually picked up.
Dulko's serving wasn't particularly effective, but Megz was mixing it up and throwing in a few aces. After practice they played a set. At which point Shaughnessy's coach said he'd meet her back at the hotel and hopped the fence and walked right past me. I don't know if it was Font du Mora because well... frankly I don't know how he looks
It was awesome being so close to the players. At changeovers they were sitting RIGHT THERE
A couple courts over there was a little blonde girl practices with her Dad/Coach for pretty much the whole day! I couldn't recognize her aside from her Babolat Aerotour racquet
I wandered the grounds a little and saw Wayne Arthurs playing some Asian player and wasn't to enthused. Then I came across the Dekmeijere/Takagishi match. Liga is a PURE DIVA!
As Takagishi remained comeposed and closed out the first set, Liga was talkin' trash and banging her racquet on the bench. She looked very fit though and eventually won in 3. Both players games were one-dimensional with Liga going for broke and Takagishi topspinning. Occasionally Takagishi threw in a good dropshot or two.
Next I saw the Jidkova/Tongsalee match. Wasn't too enthused with this match either
To be honest I was more interested in some German dude playing next to them. I think it was Rieschick. Even though he lost rather convincingly (1-6 2-6) he sure has nice package
Then I went over to watch a clinic some lady was giving to little kids. I kept watching and thought, "Hey she looks like Monica Seles???... Nah, too skinny." And low and behold it was Monica
She is sooooo gorgeous and thin in person. After the clinic she gave and autograph session and I flocked over and received one. I told her, "Monica we miss you" and she said, "Awww thank you"
Later on she did a bunch of doubles exos in the coliseum. She also teamed up with Kirilenko and I must say Maria is built like a brick house :eek
I went back to the Dulko/Shaughnessy practice session and got some more pics. I was too nervous to ask for Megz's autograph
but overcame the nerves to ask for Gisela's
I saw her packing up and said, "Miss Dulko....Gisela...you're from Argentina right?" I know I said it in a meek voice
and when she looked at me, I know my eyes grew a 1000 time huge
She is so nice and was happy to give me an auto
I wished her good luck and she said thanks
Later on that afternoon I saw her back on the court practicing again too
She was wearing the cutest booty shorts
Towards the ending of the afternoon, Federer came out and practiced and I barely got pics of him. It's funny because I had just left the Yonex Festival and say a MASSIVE flock around the practice courts and thought, "Hmmm must be Federer." And sure enough
I also got a pic of Mirka
Roger looks exactly like he looks on tv. As I called it a day, I saw Jackson and what looked like Sofia Arvidsson taking to the courts. I'll be going again tomorrow and everyday of the week save Saturday
