Tati passed hardly!!

Tati scored her first win since US Open, beating the Russian veteran, Elena Likhovtseva in three sets 4-6 6-0 6-3

Unseeded, Tati toughed out her first round match against Elena Likhovtseva 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 to reach the second round of Stuggart and she will meet either Schiavone or Benesova for a quarterfinal spot. The match itself was intense and there were a lot of long rallies between the two players, however, Tati will not be Tati if she doesn't give her fans a rollercoaster ride in a match.

Tati started off bad, and quickly found herself down 0-3, but she fought back to 3-3 before got broken again for 3-4. Both players then held their serve for 4-5 and Tati had a chance to level the match at 5-5 as she had 2 BPs but it quickly went down the drain and the set was done 6-4 to Likhovtseva. Tati started to pick up her level in the second set and it showed as the set was wrapped up with a bagel. However, the score did not reflect the fight that her opponent put up as most of the games ended up at deuce. After winning the second, Tati started to be more comfortable with her serve and charged a 5-2 lead, but even though Lena looked down and worn out but she didn't go down without a fight, she saved a MP to win a game before Tati wrapped up the match at 6-3.

Tati did not serve as well as she has done in the past weeks. Last week against, Hantuchova, she had 7 aces and even in US Open, her serves were mostly above 70%. Yesterday, she only managed to have 2 aces and her first serve % is below 50. The report has it, she was playing well for the last two sets and her groundstrokes were solid. In addition Tati's body language was really good during the match. And she seemed to have a lot of confidence which is good since I was worried her last week's loss would hurt her confidence after a great run at US Open.

According to the people who watched the match, she was seen with a coach. Again, we are not very sure whether it's her former coach, Dean Goldfine or a new coach. But any coach is good for Tati at this rate.

Overall, Tati did a good job and hopefully she can play better in the next round. ALLEZ!!
