The 4 matches in the bottom half must be played early because the winners of those matches will play the QF on Tuesday, while the matches in the top half can be scheduled late because they have rest day (at least in singles) on Tuesday.
So of these matches they chose Henin-Peer for AA, Davenport-Schnyder for LA, Kuznetsova-Jankovic for Grandstand and the one left for the outside courts is Dementieva-Rezai.
It would be stupid if they had put Safina-Razzano or Chakvetadze-Golovin to play earlier than those girls who should play again the next day.
And there's no more room for women matches on show courts because Ginepri-Haas and Safin-Rochus also must play early because they will play again on Tuesday.
If you're looking for someone to blame, it's all because Ernesto decided to pay a visit to NY on Saturday and was reluctant to leave...
