12 months ago Colombia's best tennis player Catalina Castaño reached the second round of the US Open for the first time in her career. She defeated Alina Jidkova 6-4 6-3 in the first round before falling to Serena Williams 6-2 6-2, in a match which Catalina rightly said she was capable of winning. Since then, Castaño has recorded wins over Gisela Dulko, Vera Dushevina, Nicole Vaidisova and Anna-Lena Groenefeld. Castaño is currently ranked #41 but was at her career high of #35 just a few weeks ago. Now it's time for Catalina to show the tennis world what she is capable of, and with her strong persistence, fighting spirit, sheer accuracy and willful determination let's hope she gets a good result! Go Miss Alvarez! Suerte!
