Re: Sammy on Grass

Close match. Makarova was better at key points. Served well, rallied well. Even her net play was pretty impressive.

Sam seemed to win most of her points at the net or from good serves. Forehand under performing today.

So long...

A bad day for us. We must quickly forget, and the rank #6 on the rating to go London to beat all. Come on Sam!

Makarela is a flaming brickwall. Sam could not beat her from baseline at all and she was unable to get to the net as often as she wanted. Sad to see her lose but Maka was better Still impresssive to see Sam's serve and her powerful strokes but Maks returned every single one of them and never got a ball out, which was frustating
It's good to see Sam showing her emotions on court...loved it when she got the warning but proves her passion and how much she wants every match in every surface ...and WTH she reached semis which is better than last year

I agree. I really think Sam didn't do too much wrong. Her serve and volley game worked well, and won her points many times. Makarova was just doing everything right. No errors in long rallies and she basically chased down every shot Sam gave. She served big when required. To win the match, Sam would have to produce aces like she did against Baltacha, and it was probably asking too much.

So long...
