She wasn't that bad really. A few wild errors but that's part of her game anyway. She played better towards the end but I've never seen Marion hit like that. Perhaps even cleaner than her AO 09 match against JJ.

Re: Hobart 2011: "GOD I'm getting old :-("

problem, there was couple nice point when she hit kinda well, but she had no finishing shot. Absolutely nothing. Zero. Nada. couple times Bartoli was in tight situation, but Dinara just pushed back a semi-decent ball, and the french could came back.

weak/slow footwork, weak shots, weak return, no killer shot. serve was kinda acceptable, but still weak, easy to return/kill.

I still think this coaching team does absolutely nothing for her. Either they have the wrong game plan in mind for her, or she's not listening to them at all. Either way, something's terribly wrong. I mean, even last year when she came back she was keeping matches fairly close. And to me her game looks much, much worse than it did last summer, except maybe consistency in serving.

Read that she refused to speak to media afterwards; I hope that means she's angry enough to think about making some changes (even small ones), but I've almost given up hope. Hard to stay optimistic when she's made nothing but shitty decisions for almost a year and a half.

I agree with it all

I'm not really surprised that she refused to talk to the press, when you look back since RG she gave a handful of interviews only. She usually talks when she wins now, the rest of the time i guess she's either too pissed or they just don't bother, just like it was the case at the USO if i remember correctly, i'm not certain

We'll see how it goes at the AO, how horrible her draw will be and what will happen next. I'm curious to see if there will be any change in her team if things don't get better there, but i honestly think that it'll remain the same no matter what

Me too. Oh well.

Although, honestly, the highlights aren't that bad, she just doesn't finish anything anymore. 90% of the time she was playing/moving like she was out for a practice hit.

Yeah, I agree with everyone who says it wasn't that bad, but she couldn't hit finishing shots, which resulted in every game becoming a slow but inevitable demise. From what I saw Marion played really good tennis, credit to her. Dinara just needs to learn how to finish points again. Easier said than done, but that wasn't awful or anything, scoreline didn't do her justice.

There was a few really good shots indeed. But yeah, two months weren't enough, not that i'm surprised she needs much more time off

she needs a good coach to lead her and help her...I cant see what the coaching team help her at the moment(I believe they work hard and tried to help her,but sorry,i cant see the effect)...just a few good shots are not enough!everything is weak,it's so terrible.why i even feel her power is much less than before??or she just controled her power on purpose?

about the "game plan", there was not too many today. Sometimes she was hitting short, really wide cc shots from both sides. problem, this wasn't killer either, and didn't come to the net to finish or something.
don't know if she switched raquet or string, but all her shots looking weaker, slower than it was.

my theory is that she really has fear the injury comes back. And she thinks "krajan's gameplan" inflicted the injury. And even if Gaston says she should keep doing this again, she sees him as the devil's advocate. So she is trying to do things on her own, thats why she barely calls him on court, or talks him at trainings.
(maybe its a bit too colorful theory, but you get my point )

I think she is bit stubborn, or defiant. (something like that helps to fight, to come back when there is no return). And i had the impression that she is the type who can't change easily, can't think "out of the box" sometimes. Plus add the fear of injuries and you get a big mess.

But blaming only coaches would be wrong. Anybody who saw her at least once knows that pushing and such doesn't works for her. I mean i can't believe that somebody would giving her such bad advices, just can't.

Cake was playing good coz Dinara's game didn't put any pressure on her. I mean its "Tennis strategies for Dummies"... "control the game". but Dinara right now barely has anything to control something. So whatever her opponent does, thats happens.

(man, i'm writing so much )

I think she's probably just weaker. That doesn't bother me so much; she hasn't been able to play consistently for a year and a half. Of course she's weaker.

I don't think I'm trying to blame the coaches, but I can see how it might come off like that. What I was trying to say was, I don't think they click as a team. And if she truly blames her last coach for "inflicting" this injury on her, then I can see how she might be skittish with anyone (whether or not she should be looking a little closer to home for that blame is another issue entirely). But them not working well together doesn't make them bad coaches. It just makes them the wrong team for her. And I do totally believe that. Someone she really clicked with would be able to build her recovery more methodically; she wouldn't be out there looking like she's guessing at everything. I mean, that happens to everyone from time to time. And Marion played really, really well today. But I haven't seen anything in the last 7-8 months that says to me, "I see what they're going for."

(And I can definitely believe that coaches would give her terrible advice. Poor coaching happens all the time. Not saying it's happening here, necessarily, but if it were, I wouldn't have any trouble believing it.)

Ugh!Rough scoreline,Dinara....I've seen some MUCH bigger longshots come back...so there's reason to keep hope alive...we're still with you

When the Lizards play their Trump card, humanity suffers

Monica Puig, guapa campeona de tenistas latinas

WTA suffering from Dementieva withdrawal, a lack of true queens

Congrats on Number Three, Kim! We need more of you in this world

I mean, i can agree with you. I was talking in general, kinda.
And if two breadstick and a bagel in two matchs doesn't show them that some things are not working, i don't know anything else to hope.

My brain just can't understand such "stupidism" even if its not intentional. Last time she didn't pushed i think it was against Szavay in Stuttgart. I don't know how many match she/they need till something similar we'll see.

(watched Caro-Domi highlights. at least good to see, that not Dinara is the only hopeless pusher out there. kinda.)
