Is she going to make a comeback? Then, I better be ready to start aging with all the tension during her matches again?

Perhaps she decides to start at the Indian Challenger in November. We will watch and cheer for her like crazy together.

Re: Welcome to The Good Life - Dinatards chat thread vol.3

With the Olympics almost here,I was pondering what seven events would make up a good Dinara Heptathlon, and I thought of:

1.Tummy Bulging
2.Double Faulting
3.Aimlessly Talking to Oneself
4.Coach Debating
5.Injury Ignoring
6.Racket Breaking
7.Brother's Dumped Gfs Consolation
.....I had to add at least one with a positive tone

^ she would "injure" herself after 1st of 7 anyway, so those painful events wouldnt happen.

Bruce, I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your post. So painfully Dinara.
I was remembering her standing on the podium in Beijing bawling her eyes out. We should have some happier memories. But for the life of me, I don't have any.

Yes,they were narrating Elena's victory on the WTA page, where they did an entire series on WTA gold medalists from 1988 to 2008.They suggested that, maybe,Dinara was worn out from playing such an exhaustive summer schedule...or that she just melted under the pressure after the first set.At least she WON a set and showed up to offer a challenging match....unlike the 2009 RG Final. When I saw that terrified look on her face as she was about to leave the tunnel,I knew the match was already over unless Sveta twisted an ankle or something.....Anyway,there are a lot of strong Russian performers at these Olympics so I hope that Dinarik is enjoying the Games

I still can see her almost collapsing because of exhaustion in that match. Ugh... watching someone physically suffering is the worst. One of the worst memory. That match was on her, LenaD was flat as a pancake.

That was the second career-defining match when both Dinara and her opponent really needed the victory---RG 2008 was the other.Obviously,Elena would have never become the sort of laughingstock that the Serb now is(incidentally,Big Masha truly put the fraud in her place a couple of days ago),but a loss there in Beijing would've changed how people viewed her over the long term. Finally, when Dinarik blew her THIRD good chance at glory at RG 2009,she couldn't live with it and neglected her health concerns as a result

Pretty sure if she would've won that final instead of LenaDemented, most of people would say how worthless is that gold.

Norby,it appears that you're taking one of your beloved detours from Reality. Are you saying that you were sure bEFORE that match took place that Dinara was going to win??Given Elena's previous track record at Slams,I can understand such sentiment...IF that's what you meant.

The fact is,though,Dinara never gave a particularly strong performance in any of those big finals we've discussed.I vented on poor Sveta for an hour at TF before finally waking up and apologizing to her fans when I came to grips with the cold, hard truth that Dinarik didn't deserve to win that day...and it was no different at the OG.You should pick your enemies better than you've done with the lovely, classy Elena who earned her moment of glory by kicking Serena's ass in the Beijing QFs.As painful as it is to accept,Dinarik put herself in that no-slam position by never being psychologically/mentally ready in those finals

Re: Welcome to The Good Life - Dinatards chat thread vol.3

I dont know what are you suggesting. Dinara always had a chance against Lena, but blew it most of the time. Olympics final was completely different than her Slam finals. This time Lena was playing soulless and weak, until she saw Dinara was so tired breathing with her ears and arse, DFing it away. Of course that give her hope for a comeback and eventually won it.
