Safina Entered In Stuttgart

Dinara is playing in the Porsche Tennis Grande Prix in Stuttgart, Germany. The Tournament is a Tier II played on a Hard Court. If all goes to plan, here is how Safina's draw will go.

R1 - Mara Santangelo
R2 - Daniela Hantuchova
QF - Nadia Petrova
SF - Svetlana Kuznetsova
F - Amelie Mauresmo

Ok. Focusing on Dinara's First Round against Santangelo, they have played each other once before in 2004 at Rome First Round and Dinara won 6-3 6-2.

Good Luck Dinara

Dinara really doesn't seem to be playing well at all lately

Oh well. A win is a win. Hopefully having to save 3 match points against a crap player will be a wake up call and she will beat Hantuchova/Bammer.

And by the way this was Dinara's first win as a Top 10 Player

Good Luck in R2 Dinara

Safina hangs on

Dinara Safina celebrated her rise into the world's top 10 by saving three match points in a 6-1 5-7 7-6 victory over Italy's Mara Santangelo at the Stuttgart Grand Prix on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old Russian, sister of former world number one Marat Safin and a quarter-finalist at the French and U.S. Opens, was making her first appearance as a top 10 player after victories this year over Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Elena Dementieva and Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Safina's strong forehand and potent serve gave her an early advantage, and after firing three aces in the first game she coasted through the opening set.

But Safina failed to maintain her momentum at the beginning of the second and surrendered the first three games before levelling at 3-3.

Santangelo then requested an injury time-out when leading 6-5, and after treatment to her left wrist broke a second time to level the match.

In the deciding set, Safina was broken to love when serving for victory at 5-4 and the sixth seed fought off three match points before edging the tiebreak 11-9.

Good Luck in R2 Dinara
Santangelo isn't crap, she is top 50, so if that is carp, I want to be that crap.
Dinara is now top 10 but she hasn't played like a top 10 player since the clay season.
I think Daniela will be tougher than last week.

Dinara/Srebotnik def Hantuchova/Peer in 1st round dubs in 3 sets.

Santangelo is tricky. That was a good win.

Too bad about the loss against Hantuchova.

I hope Dinara can pull it together soon.
This is starting to turn into a disappointing end to what has been a breakthrough year.
