Schaap suspension after Carson

So...does anyone know any details about the Schaap suspension
after Carson? All I can find online is stuff like "altercation with
another coach" and "it wasn't a fistfight."

(I had no idea it happened; I just happened to finally get
a copy of the USA network match of Mauresmo/Safina, and one
of the announcers mentioned it. I was a little freaked out watching
Schaap at Carlsbad (tournament before Carson), so in a way, I
was interested to hear about this. Maybe I wasn't hallucinating
in thinking Schaap was a bit overamped, dripping in testosterone.)

That is the first I have heard of it.
When I saw him on the gold coast this year he looked fine. He and Dinara seemed to get on very well - laughing & joking and he would always go straight to her after the match and congratulate her. But then maybe he has changed since then.
Dinara's game has improved a lot this year and I think Schaap has had a lot to do with the improvement so I hope this isn't a long term suspension or one that will affect his work with Dinara. Great effort from Dinara to make QF in singles and final in doubles without her coach in NY. At least Dinara has her mother who can travel with her while he is suspended or in the event of her wanting to change coaches her looking for one.

Apparently he got suspended during the Australian Open as well!

I think he was only suspended for two weeks, so that would have been
for Rogers Cup and Pilot Pen (but Dinara pulled out of Pilot Pen, right?)
He was there for US Open.

Yeah I was probably watching the same coverage as you Mary. It's really too bad they didn't go into any detail about why he was suspended. It's like they just assumed the viewers would know.

When he was still Petova's coach he apparently had an encounter with Yuri Sharapov. Something incuding a bin. What exactly happened, I'm not sure.
In Dutch media there's also hardly anything to be found on Schaap.

Dinara Safina, Elena Dementieva, Jelena Jankovic, Nastya Myskina, Nadia Petrova, Alicia Molik, Ana Ivanovic, Sveta Kuznetsova, Elena Bovina, Misa Krajicek

Oh! And I'm not saying anything against what he has
done for Ms. Safina's game: they've definitely taken it apart
and put it together again, much better.

But if Schaap had a fight w/ Srebotnik's coach... Grrr...
(I like her. She seems really nice.)

The announcers only said was that Schaap had an altercation
w/ another coach at Carson. Oh wait...Srebotnik pulled out of Carson,
right? So it couldn't have been Veselinovic.

Glenn was working with Dinara in New York. After one point in the 1sr rd doubles match he said to Dinara from the stands "Do you feel pretty?!", which caused much giggling with both Safina and Srebotnik! (a slight dig at a certain Nike commercial, I believe!)

Thanks for the report, esdee! (Are you slummin'? Over here
on the Safina forum? I keep lurking over on the Srebotnik forum,
but since there are no tournaments for me for a while, I don't
have much to say.)
