Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

I hope she doesn't retire...Alona had possibly one of the most elegant and attractive games on the tour by far.

It was always great to see both Bondarenko girls causing upsets in the Grand Slams...and I loved them as a double team.

I totally agree with all your message on both sisters.

I have no info to bring ya, gonna hunt for some in Russia/Ukrainian websites.
At the end of last year she said she absolutely didn't consider retiring for the moment, but who knows...

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

So I went through the Russian/Ukrainian news websites, and latest and only news was about Alyona not competing at the Olympics. So I decided to make further investigation in the Russian FAcebook (VK) and apparently, Alyona has a back injury currently. No more details, source is from Mariya Koryttseva apparently, and this info is less than a month old.

Oh no...poor Alona...back injuries are so horrible.

And Mariya seems to have given up on tennis entirely!

Any news on Kateryna btw? She hasn't played since the US Open, and she's ranked at 132 now.

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

She's alive!!!

Kolya just posted this picture on Facebook, and located it at Sharm-al-Shaik, so I guess she's having a good time in Egypt. (and having healthy activities )

Looks like her face is less hollow, which means she could have put on some much needed weight. Really hope se'll have her back on courts next year, I miss her pretty game so much.

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

So yesterday I asked Olena Kaidalova (the woman in charge of the Sapronov Tennis website - the Ukrainian tennis portal) if she had any info on Alona and whether we would see her next year or not. And this is what she answered: "I have no idea. But it 's more likely - NOT".

I dunno what the issue is, if she's still struggling physically or if the motivation is gone. In some interviews in last year's off-season she said she wasn't intending to retire at all, and couldn't wait to be back on the court. But still, this was a year ago, and since then, no Alona.

Wish she would make a comeback in 2013
