The MD for Strasbourg is out. In the 1st round she plays against a qualifier.

So great to see her in a draw again

Good luck Alona

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

I'm happy to see her back, it was weird to see her name in a draw again; it's been so long. Obviously we have no idea how she'll play in her first week back but the draw actually isn't too bad. I will just be pleased to see her play a match on clay though.

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

That's too bad on the loss, but to be expected. It might be a while before she can get her game coordinated again but at least she will be playing injury free from now on. I really can't imagine what she would look like with short hair.

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

This is more gossip than news but here is a brief article about Alona with some (small) recent pictures:

Re: Alona Bondarenko Cheering Thread

Thanks for the article. It actually really fits my impression when I saw her play on Tuesday. She really seemed ghostly to me: extremely thin, pale, apathetic... I mean, not looking quite like a player returning all motivated and fresh after a long injury-related break should look. I may just be fantasizing but it looked quite worrying actually.

I don't think that it's anything major but it is slightly puzzling. If anything I would have expected her to come back a bit heavier. It is very early in her return to the game, she may look different in six months. I think she's just happy to be healthy and back on the tour.

Yeah, but I didn't find she looked healthy. She looked unhappy and sick and liveless. I find it quite strange.
