Karen Barbat was playing a 10K in Turkey this week. However, she never showed up to her 2nd round match against Swede Ellen Algurin (who won by walkover). Now she has explained in one of her blog entries what happened. She was in a bit of hurry just prior to the match when she hit her kne against something sharp (a rail perhaps?). The flesh was wide open to her kneecap and the blood was pouring out! She was taken to a nerby hospital in a hurry and got some stitches.
Nothing broken, luckily, so she'll probably be back when the stitches are removed and the wound has healed.
Karen has another blog update (in Danish). Unfortunately her knee wound has not healed properly so now she's got some infection in her knee. She's been training too much and too early so it just got worse. She needs to rest completely now.
