Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

Sofie Bjerringgaard/Ida Krause lost the doubles final at TE Birkerød to a British team. The Brits won 62 36 10-6. Good tournament though

I found this photo of the double finalists (unfortunately very lo-res). It's the British girls at the left, then Ida (the tall one), and Sofie at the far right:

Julie Noe is the only Dane left in the G5 - Deloitte Junior Cup.

She plays her R3 against Angela Kulikov. GL Julie!

Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

A bit disappointing to have only one Danish girl in R3, as there were three girls in R3 at the ITF a week ago (and that was a higher grade). GL Julie!

The U14 girls are doing well at the Tennis Europe tournament this week. One of the matches in today's R3 is Sofia Munch vs Hannah Viller Møller, so there will difinetely be one Danish girl in the QF! Hannah is not yet 12 years of age but seems very talented. Sofia Munch is almost exactly two years older. Sofie Bjerringgaard, Rebekka Hillingsø, Alma Rune, Helena Francati are also in R3. GL!

Are Emilie Francati and Helena Francati sisters?

Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

Yes they are, born 1997 & 2000. There are many siblings in Danish tennis: Martine Ditlev has a very talented younger sister, Agnes Ditlev (b 2002). I mentioned twin sisters Sille & Emma Tranberg a few days ago. And Karen Barbat's brother, Alex Barbat is a decent U18 player by Danish standards. Emma Rønholt also has a younger sister playing tennis. And so on...

On another note:
Julie Noe lost today at the ITF event. Alma Rune also lost at the TE U14.

Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

Danish Junior Championships, outdoors 2013

Quarterfinals

U14
(1) Sofie Bjerringgaard d. (5) Alma Nødskov Rune 46 63 64
Mathilde Tranberg d. (3) Helena Steenberg 67(5) 63 62
(6) Josefine Axelsen d. Olga Helmi 61 64
(7) Ida Krause d. (2) Helena Francati 46 64 61

U16
(5) Simone Alipieva d. (1) Emilie Francati 57 63 63
(3) Emma Rønholt d. Laura Gaarde Andersen 63 63
(6) Sille Tranberg d. (4) Ella Hedeboe 61 26 62
(2) Frederikke Svarre d. (Q) Emilie Håkansson 62 63

U18
(1) Ulrikke Høyer d. (7) Anna S. Christensen 63 62
(3) Julie Noe d. (5) Elisabeth Nørgaard 60 60
(6) Kathrine Berge d. (4) Emma Håkansson 76(7) 61
(2) Amina Hadzic d. (8) Cecilie Melsted 63 61

Biggest surprise so far is probably Rebekka Hillingsø losing in R1 (in U14 to Alma Nødskov Rune). Rebekka Hillingsø was a finalist at the indoor championships March 2013.

Simone Alipieva defeating Emilie Francati is also a huge upset these days. That happend a lot a few years ago (Simone winning), but Francati has been the better player the last couple of years. Hopefully Simone is back at her old form!

Rønholt, Francati & Alipieva in the same half!

Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

Semifinals

U12
(1) Hannah Viller Møller d. Ida Hasselbalch 60 61
(6) Alisha Ali Hussain d. (5) Camilla Flintholm Jensen 62 63

U14
(1) Sofie Bjerringgaard d. Mathilde Tranberg d. 62 63
(7) Ida Krause d. (6) Josefine Axelsen 16 62 61

U16
(5) Simone Alipieva d. (3) Emma Rønholt 26 64 62
(2) Frederikke Svarre d. (6) Sille Tranberg 76(7) 64

U18
(3) Julie Noe d. (1) Ulrikke Høyer 62 63
(2) Amina Hadzic d. (6) Kathrine Berge 63 75

Seems like Simone is back! Emma Rønholt was 3-0 against Simone in their previous three matches. It's also nice to see that Sille Tranberg and Frederikke Svarre have developed into quite good players by Danish standards (although this by far was the easier half of the draw). I think this will be Frederikke Svarre's 1st Championship final ever. It's also Amina Hadzic's first final, if I'm not mistaken. Well done by both girls to keep progressing all the way through their junior years, although both Amina and Frederikke are seeded 2, which sort of suggests they ought to reach the final (their seeding is more due to the new ranking system, I think, than them actually being 2nd best a.t.m.).

Hannah Møller is cruising as always. She rarely loses a U12 match against Danish players. Simply outstanding!

The big favourtites for the titles seems to be in the upper half of the draws (by chance?): Hannah, Sofie, Simone, and Julie. We'll see...
