Excellent victory for Karen. Looks like she is peaking in the big tournaments. And that she has finally found her game on the red clay

InTheAir, Karen was in the doubles draw and in the schedule, but does you know why she did not play in doubles?

Will she play in Wimbledon also?

Yes, her partner was injured in her single so they had to pull out.

She will not play Wimbledon. I think she only has one ITF tournament left to play before her 16th birthday so she would not be able to play both Roehampton warm-up and Wimbledon quali. Changing from clay to grass takes at least a week so arriving directly for a Wimbledon qualy would not be well prepared. And staying one week in London practising on grass would cost a fortune in hotels and court fees.

So I guess it is matter of spending money on a limited tournament budget most wisely.

Next tournament for Karen and Malou will be a 25k in Baastad, Sweden. They are both in quali.

Re: The Danes are coming - Danish juniors thread

Karen is struggling with the federation. Apparently she has been kicked out of the training centre.

Yeah it's a sad story but we've heard it before. Karen's dad wants things done his way, the federation theirs- Not a good situation for Karen, but also bad for the future of Danish tennis.

Malou did not play because she was in London and played in Wimbledon Junior Doubles. (She missed out of the qualies) TV2 did a interview where she told, she the last 2 years had played for full. She hope to be TOP 100 in juniors

great results. She should move to 500 easily in 1 or 2 years.
The problems with the federation are sad...but for her? Denmark never was good in womens tennis...so she can also train alone with an own trainer i think

Hard to say. Always good to have federation behind her, also when it comes to covering expenses. Now her practise is handled by her father I guess. Will be interesting to see how things develops.
