THE CHAMPIONSHIPS (Wimbledon, England; grass; Grand Slam)
+ NICOLE VAIDIŠOVÁ d. Karolina Šprem, 7-5 7-5
The match started at 19:44 BST on Court 2 (having been moved from Court One when Berdych v Haas went to a fifth set), but BBC 2 was about to close down, BBC 1 and Freeview 301 had already closed down, and Freeview 302 was showing Berdych v Haas, so I had to settle for live scores at www.wimbledon.org

Nicole serving 0-0: 15/0... held.
Karolina serving 0-1: held to love.
Nicole serving 1-1: held to love.
Karolina serving 1-2: 15/0, 30/15, 40/15, held.
Another serve-dominated match, like Nicole's first round (7-5 7-5 over Klára Koukalová).
Nicole serving 2-2: 40/15, held.
Karolina serving 2-3: 40/0, 40/15, held.
Nicole serving 3-3: 0/15, 40/15 -> 40/40, ad Karolina (BP), broken.
A major psychological blow against Nicole to drop serve from 40/15 up, and with the ease with which Karolina has been holding serve so far, it's almost like she's lost the first set already.
Berdych v Haas (Court One) has just finished, but BBCi are now showing Ancic v Wawrinka (Centre Court) on their one remaining channel!
So if Nicole loses this match before Ancic v Wawrinka (currently at the start of the second set) has finished, the BBC won't have televised a single point of her this Wimbledon. It beggars belief that they have totally ignored her first-week campaign, and showed so little women's tennis in general on BBCi.
I am extremely disappointed and angry that they don't deign to televise this mouthwatering match, just because it was scheduled so late in the day.
Karolina serving 4-3: 15/0, 15/40 (2 BPs), broken.
Great champions break back immediately!
And this is where the advantage of serving first comes into play.
Nicole serving 4-4: 15/0... held.
Karolina serving to stay in the first set at 4-5: 30/0, 40/15, held.
Nicole serving 5-5: 15/15, 40/15, held.
Karolina serving to stay in the first set at 5-6: 15/0, 15/30... Nicole won the first set 7-5 at 20:20.
The good news is that there's talk of Wawrinka v Ancic (the match currently on Freeview 302) being suspended for bad light, so I may yet see the end of this match after that suspension, or tomorrow if this too is suspended. Then again, given the BBC's behaviour so far, they'll probably just close Freeview 302 down after Wawrinka v Ancic...
This match's best chance of televisation is if Karolina can take it to three sets and get it suspended for failing light (the absolute latest time before it's too dark to play is about 21:30, but they usually suspend matches at the end of a set).
So the worst-case scenario for Nicole's chances of getting televised on Freeview BBC this Wimbledon would be if she retired injured in the second set. Even if Karolina wins the second set in 20 minutes, I can't see them starting a third set tonight.

Nicole serving 0-0: held to love.
Karolina serving 0-1: 30/0, 30/15, 40/30, held.
Nicole serving 1-1: 30/0, 40/15, held.
Karolina serving 1-2: 0/15, 15/15, 30/15... held.
Credit to Karolina for hanging in here. Because she's a very inconsistent player, I kind of expected her to crack after losing that first set, but she's continuing to make Nicole work hard, with significant doubt remaining over who will emerge victorious (I give Nicole a 75-80% chance, because it feels like each set is almost 50/50).
Nicole serving 2-2: 15/0, 30/15, 40/15, held.
Karolina serving 2-3: 0/15, 15/30, 30/30, 40/30, 40/40, ad Nicole (BP), Deuce #2, ad Nicole (BP), Deuce #3, ad Karolina, held.
Those were virtual match-points for Nicole, given that she's dropped serve only once in this match. But instead of pulling clear at 7-5 4-2, she's in the heart of battle at 3-3. It's vitally important for Nicole's chances in this set that she recovers from that disappointment by holding serve in the next game.
Nicole serving 3-3: 15/15, 40/15, held.
Karolina serving 3-4: held in a single scoreboard-update.
Nicole serving 4-4: 15/0, 30/15, 40/15, held.
The moment of truth for Karolina's Wimbledon-campaign...
Karolina serving to stay in the match at 4-5: 0/15, 30/15, 30/30, 30/40 (MP), 40/40, ad Karolina, Deuce #2, ad Nicole (MP #2), Deuce #3, ad Nicole (MP #3), Deuce #4, ad Nicole (MP #4), Deuce #5, ad Karolina, held.
Very important for Nicole to stay in the now, and not dwell on those four match-points (possibly more, given the speed that the scoreboard was updating). She won't sleep well if this match is suspended at one set all.
Nicole serving 5-5: 30/15, 30/30, 40/30, held.
Karolina serving to stay in the match at 5-6: 0/40 (3 MPs), Nicole won 7-5 7-5 at 21:11, just as Freeview-channel 302 closed down without even mentioning her.
At least Nicole lives to fight another day for televisation, and her first- and third-round matches, both 7-5 7-5, may have helped to prepare her for similar tight situations that I hope to see her (on TV!) in against the top players next week.
Positive memories of tight situations are very important for the next time you find yourself in them, while negative memories (such as the French Open semi-final choke) can be very destructive.

I had been dreading a fourth-round meeting with Svetlana Kuznetsova, who beat Nicole in three sets in both 3r Wimbledon 2005 and sf French Open 2006, but Li,Na did the job for her, taking advantage of Kuznetsova's 10:24 W:UE ratio to beat her 3-6 6-2 6-3.
Li has been in impressive form so far, beating Virginie Razzano 6-2 6-0 and Meilen Tu 6-2 6-4 before Kuznetsova. But she'll have to step it up against Nicole, and when she tried to do that against Maria Sharapova at Birmingham, she did hit a lot of winners, but ended up gift-wrapping Maria's victory with a slew of unforced errors.
Women's Doubles: Second round
- Nicole Vaidišová/Maureen Drake lt. LISA RAYMOND/SAMANTHA STOSUR , 4-6 2-6
Order of play for Monday
Court 3 (start 12:00 BST = 11:00 GMT)

2. WS 4r: LI,NA v NICOLE VAIDIŠOVÁ
3. MS 4r: DMITRY TURSUNOV v JARKKO NIEMINEN

I've got a bad feeling that Nicole-fans with Freeview BBCi may well remain disappointed that we haven't seen a single point of her this Wimbledon.
