Re: US open!

The draw keeps opening up - Raymond & Stosur are out

(6) Peschke/Stubbs vs. (13) Morariu/Shaughnessy
(3) Ai&Kata vs. [Dechy/Safina or Garbin/Peer]
Szavay/Uhlirova vs. Foretz/Shvedova
(5) Chan/Chuang vs. (16) Mirza/Mattek

That means: Ai and Kata are now the favorites for the title
I really hope they don't let the moment get to them, I really hope they can come through here... I believe.

Hantuchova/Sugiyama def. (1) Black/Huber 6-7(0) 6-3 7-6(10) saving SEVEN match points, down 2-5 in the third, and down 2-6 in the third set tiebreak in three hours

Ai Sugiyama. Jie Zheng. Zi Yan. Tamira Paszek.
Yaroslava Shvedova. Nuria&MariaJose. Yung-Jan Chan. Elena Vesnina. Flavia Pennetta.

Re: US open!

This could be the biggest chance they ever get, so they better live up to the opportunity.

No.

They better... !!

They will play the QF on Wednesday against (7) Dechy & Safina, who beat Garbin & Peer 6-4 1-6 7-5.

I'm so excited for their match!!

So disappointing... They're losing to Dechy and Safina badly.

Re: US open!

They lost 5-7 3-6
This is so crushing... they couldn't win the slam they were favorites for.

Re: US open!

Kata and Ai are not the type of players to ever be able to do well, when favoured.

Tough loss.

No.

Re: US open!

Probably she wasnt inspired enough cos all higher ranked doubles were out.

And Kata really dreams she can win in Portoroz.

That's exactly what I was thinking
It's sort of like the RG Final, or the Stanford/San Diego SFs.
But worse

Ah well... I hope they can rebound, do well in the fall to qualify for YEC and then do well at the Aussie Open. That one's super important.

Re: US open!

Such cute pics, thank you

She said in her blog (which is really cute!) that she's pleased with the way she's been playing, and in doubles too. She was disappointed about USO, but she said Nath&Dinara were better that particular day, and she's happy they won so they lost to eventual champions She's so cute.
