It's not easy to see a player you like a lot to keep on losing like this.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

Maybe she should also get rid of doubles at this stage of her career? At least week in week out.

Right, as she's not winning as much anymore. I think Kirilenko sensed better than Flavia when to focus on singles.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

IMO the best match she played since her return from injury...on hardcourt she struggles much less than clay or grass with her shot good luck next round

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

it honestly is an unespected and great win for Flavia, because Ula is the kind of player that would always trouble her with consistency and variety...hard courts allowed her to find better rhythm, she plays closer to the baseline and uses opponents power to keep the pace, all things she struggles to do on clay and her worse form since the injure widened on the dirt. I can't see her doing much against Ana, but let's enjoy this moment

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

I really liked her match against Cornet once she woke up, but this was pretty good, too.

Sadly she is not winning as much in singles anymore that I think she actually needs doubles now for more match practice. Before though I would be agreeing with you. Not that I don't love Flavia playing doubles before. Dulketta Back then sometimes doubles is bit too much on her schedule. Now it feels a long time ago since doubles has been too much on her schedule.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

About her match against Ula, I didn't see it but Flavia usually had done well during the US Open swing. So maybe some of that streak is still in her.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

that one she could well have won, technically

I was really looking Forward to a match against Li. What a pitty

Welcome, Flavia, to the "Great Champion" club

With her “Step out of the way, boys” strut and her intemperate mid-match gesticulating, this woman is a natural solo act.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

It was VERY close. Flavia showed a lot of fighting spirit today. I thought they really went toe to toe in this match. Her tennis is definitely improving.
