Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

It seems it takes nothing to make her lose the little game she's left tbh she had no business losing more than 2 games in the thirds and if it wasn't for some sort of pride she would have got bagel and breadstick in the last two sets

I am sorry for you Linda I know how does it feel, even though for you it was even worse as she gave hopes with that first set...in Rome she simply was bad.

I am sorry to say that, but I really believe she should have never come back, this is embarassing for her career because there's nothing to add by doing this, unless you call those bad losses and a big chance to be out of top 200 by july as a good way to say good bye

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

^ I am sorry, but I have to disagree with that man, she's not athletically as powerful as before and her shots are clean and everything, but luck the power and the accuracy of the past, it's not all mental (even though a big part is given by that too)...I don't think she'll be back

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

i've seen it on tv
i still can't say she's really done, usually she peaks after Wimbly so let's wait US summer and i'm sure she will take the right decision if it doesn't go well
she's really struggling too much with her serve, it really needs to be fixed to be competitive again.

I like Fran's point of view here. Then again it is still not better to expect anything from Flavia anymore. It hurts less in the end.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

When has she ever not struggled after an injury? I don't expect top20 from her anymore, but I do expect her to gain spots back on the ranking.
I think she also said she found it hard to get used to new situation - ie Urpi (and Gise) not being around.

I just can't be harsh on her when she's struggling so much.

Re: 2013 Cheering/Farewell/Hasta La Vista Thread

I think the added pressure of defending points may have caused the final set meltdown. Rome and RG were pretty much the only two tournaments holding her current ranking and she performed poorly in both tournaments. She needs to step down to challenger/weak MM events to build some confidence and gain cheap points.

I can't see Flavia playing challengers. But I guess if she's still motivated to get back in form she might try it.
