This is going to be short and sweet, baby.

Waiting for Ana Ivanovic to just retire already .

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich

Who will coach her there?

I wonder how will she play when everybody expects her to lose her 1st match! (probably missing 300 MPs before proving them right)

This thread is useless if she'll lose in R1

She'll probably beat Kuznetsova in 3R and lose to ET in 4R.

Bring back Maria Sharapova!

I'm hoping that Ana will be seeded between 9-12 this time.

Losing to Lim in R1 (0-6 6-0 11-9) after wasting 52 MP's in the decider.

It was really difficult to watch. She had so many opportunities. Should have won it at 6-5* in the second or *5-4 in the third. And while she fought valiantly, I just knew she would choke when it was totally even again. Those forehands at *7-7 and 7-8* in the TB were heartbreaking, especially after some sensational shots to save MPs.

I hate to say it, but this season is hopeless. She could have a random SF run or two in the latter half of the year, but the overall season is cooked.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich

This mess of her career needs either to get some epic turn around or just finish quietly soon. It is so sad to see how she throws everything good that she has done last year. Ana is over after this match guys. Even I, the optimist, the delusional one, don't see anything good coming soon. This match killed her, I can sense that. Her whole downfall after 2008 was sumarized in this match.

This shower will be too cold for Ana. Nothing will happen before US open hard court series and even that is very questionable. She will reach 4th round at some of next two slams, at the other one will bomb out in 2nd round, and she will lose in opening round of Birmingham. And that's that before US. To sum up, this season is oficially over. At best, she will end ranked somewhere between 15 and 20 when this season ends.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich

Also, not sure if I told you here, recently in one interview Ana said that she is not too worried because last year "some players" only played good at US open series and still qualified for YEC (refering to Wozniacki). I fell off my chair, I could not believe that she thinks that way. "Oh hey, let's throw the 70% of the season under the train, there is still gonna be some chances..."

No Ana, there won't be. You are nowhere near Wozniacki's mentality to suddenly wake up from atrocity and play 5-6 consecutive semifinals and finals in less than 2 months.

Also, obviously, she won't even consider playing some MM next week. Now she can, bcs top 10s can now play 2 MMs before Wimbledon, and one after. She's going to RG with total of 2 matches won on clay, one by retirement of injured oponent. Just great.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich

She a pretty random player though, you know. She could still perform ok at RG, somehow, especially with a good draw. She could also flop. I think the likelihood is about 50-50 that she gets through the first 3 rounds. I think she'll draw some unlucky weakling in R1 and wallop them, although after that things will get more tricky.

Ana's the kind of opponent, who, if she ever manages to get to the second week, is very dangerous. It's just that she can't get to the second week because she keeps having matches like this. But she is never a guaranteed flop, or win. That's why her matches are so exciting/exasperating to follow. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get next... These days she seems to be flopping more than winning, her fitness seems to be down, partly as a consequence of some injuries which are stopping her from playing at 100%, and her pressure play in tiebreaks has become rather bad, but at least last year was better, and people didn't see that coming.

Her confidence will be pretty shot at the moment though. So she needs someone in R1 who is uncomfortable on clay or has a weak serve that she can kill, someone who is a good match up for her. With her high seeding and 32 seeded players, I think the chances for her to get that one confidence boosting win are quite decent.

bastian is in off season, he will be there in her box, she will want to be impressive and ana is only motivated by IPTL and grand slams now, so there is hope

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich

I see your point, yes, Ana is extremely unpredictable player. But HowardH, does it really matter if she reaches 4R at RG? Are we going to consider that as success at this point of her career? I mean, she was doing that round regulary in 2012-2013, it's nothing spectacular, we all thought she was failing by reaching only 4R everywhere. And she was. Her confidence is under the rock now and it won't change until she wins few matches in a row, and it will not happen at slam all of a sudden. This Rome was her last chance to save clay season. Playing some international next week would be good this time IMO, although she's never done it before slam, but Ana will not consider it. That scenario of yours is more likely to happen at Wimbledon, IMO. 4R. And it will still mean nothing.
