Re: Roland Garros 2015: Waiting for the Flight to Munich
She a pretty random player though, you know. She could still perform ok at RG, somehow, especially with a good draw. She could also flop. I think the likelihood is about 50-50 that she gets through the first 3 rounds. I think she'll draw some unlucky weakling in R1 and wallop them, although after that things will get more tricky.
Ana's the kind of opponent, who, if she ever manages to get to the second week, is very dangerous. It's just that she can't get to the second week because she keeps having matches like this. But she is never a guaranteed flop, or win. That's why her matches are so exciting/exasperating to follow. It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get next... These days she seems to be flopping more than winning, her fitness seems to be down, partly as a consequence of some injuries which are stopping her from playing at 100%, and her pressure play in tiebreaks has become rather bad, but at least last year was better, and people didn't see that coming.
Her confidence will be pretty shot at the moment though. So she needs someone in R1 who is uncomfortable on clay or has a weak serve that she can kill, someone who is a good match up for her. With her high seeding and 32 seeded players, I think the chances for her to get that one confidence boosting win are quite decent.
