Re: Red The Clay Thread 2013

Just some much needed realism for y'all

I am optimistic about Ana's chances. I mean even with her mental weaknesses she can beat the Vika that showed up in Madrid. I won't forget that Vika did play a very good set of tennis in Rome against Maria in 2011, so she* definety can play well on the surface, but each year is a new one and she's been pretty average since 2012.

I know we shouldn't look too far ahead, but Morita is currently thrashing Sorana

Ana Ivanovic will play vs Ayumi Morita in R2, if she beats Urszula Radwanska tomorrow.

I've been following Ana for like 9 years, like most of the people here, I believe we're all perfectly aware of her chances. Few fans here are perhaps overenthusiastic, but overall they are in minority. Beating Vika is doable, but it's still unlikely. It's unlikely that she'll reach the QF or better on 3 events in a row, actually.

Re: Red The Clay Thread 2013

Well, if she's playing Morita in R2 she might not even make it to the Vika match so

No. Morita on clay should not be a problem. Ana in two.

Re: Red The Clay Thread 2013

If she continue to play like this she can easily go to the 3rd round, if she repeats game like against Kerber she can beat Vika, in some three-setter , if she beat Vika I'm sure she'll beat Sam or Petra.

So another SF in a row is possible

Re: Red The Clay Thread 2013

Experienced WTA player, claycourt specialist, two time Roland Garros finalist and once champion... decide to not take seriously last WTA event before Paris, because she is not in position like when she is young and with better fitness, to play on high level week by week, and she have big problems with injuries in previous couple years, so don't want to take risk when major is so close. She don't come in Rome to lose - she will simple try to go into next rounds with hers 50% game and efforts, but unfortunately hers early opponent is very ambitious young prospect (early 90' class) which will die on court to beat such big claycourt name, and our clay-champ simple don't care enough and is already totally focused on upcoming Paris. So youngster won the match, but it's not end of the world for our champ-in-slump, actually, most important battle of the season coming already this month, and we all should to wait that GS event for final evalution of first half of this season. Who cares about Rome if in Paris she will show her best?

Sorry guys because I trolling here about Svetlana Kuznetsova and Franceska Schiavone 2013 appearance in Rome, and theirs early loses there vs young Simona Halep and Kiki Bertens. Of all TF players forums I'm used to post only here, and I'm lazy to go now on Sveta or Fran forum to express this my opinion.

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Please, please stop with your omnious mentality, it stinks a bit because it's been failing for some time. Not that you're illogical with what you say, but you go to far, calm down.

Re: Red The Clay Thread 2013

TBH, I want her to fulfill her seeding here at least. It would be amazing if she could make the QFs and get that Top 12 seeding possibly but like Cajka said, expecting her to make back-to-back-to-back QF's would be too much

Ana is progressing nicely. She got the semi-final last week which should give her some confidence going into this tournament. Hopefully she can make a deep run here also.
