So.. Ana is next playing Pattaya, Doha and Dubai.

She has a total of 190 points to defend in february (120 points from QF in Dubai and 70 points for 2nd round in Doha). This year Dubai is the P5 and Doha the P700.

It would be important to get some good results in these tournaments before having to defend 450 points in Indian Wells. I think its clear that having a top 12 seed makes a huge difference.. Facing Kvitova, Errani, Kerber or Na Li is tough but way better than taking on Serena, Maria, Aga or Vika before QFs. Ana is currently 100 points behind Nadia for number 12.

Pattaya definitely presents a good chance for points. If I'm not mistaken, Ana will be the top seed. But its in Doha and Dubai that she can get the big points.. would be good to step up there.

Lisicki is dangerous. Ugh.. I just hope she gets enough points here to get a fking top 12 seeding so she doesn't have to face the top 4 seeds in the 4R at the French Open. She was quite optimistic in her presser, but we've heard this so many times from Ana in the past. She needs to back it up. We'll see what she does in February tbh. Such a big chance to get points.

Winner of Pattaya takes 280 points, right? If Ana could enter top 10 before RG it would be great! Agreed about big difference between #12 and #13. If Ana had played two more internationals last year, she would already be at least #12 but maybe even higher ranked. Let's see how this year goes for her. Pattaya is a great place to gain more points, take #12 position and to increase self confidence. :)

Based on entries, I think Ana should win this and nothing less then title TBH. The only girl who might be threat is Lisicki, but even her is far beyond Ana. Ana, win this, I mean it! :)

My predictions for February:

MM Pattaya: Early round exit

FED CUP (Serbia vs Slovakia): Qualify for SF :yeah:
Premier-5 Doha: Early round exit

Premier Dubai: at least QF (depending on Draw) :yeah:

Cp6uja seems a bit crazy but his theories unfortunately almost never fail.. and when they do, its because he is too optimistic at times.. :sobbing:

Ok, Cpbija, let's see how your prediction goes. Ana will play good in february, she is going to win Pattaya and will go deep in Doha OR Dubai, that is my bet! :)

As of Roland Garros 2013, my expectations are very high too (at least SF or even F and when you are in the F, who knows what migh happen next), but first I will have to see her play in Madrid and Rome, and I hope she plays Stuttgart as well. :)

Your predictions is based on simple truth that is way more easy for some tennis player to make success on MM tournament with shity Entry List than on Big One, where everyone playing and give theirs best - but for Your good - DON'T BET ON THAT!!!
You forget that we don't talking here about some random WTA Player-X, but about our lovely Ana Ivanovic, which is everything but not normal WTA case.
Ana's body is still seems not ready for day-to-day events according to only test which she have so far this season (Hopman Cup final, where she is highly motivated to win BTW). I know that Ana needs points in february, that Ana desperately needs some title (she is titleless in whole 2012), that field in Pattaya is shity - but I want to ask You is this first month out of last 20 where she needs easy points or easy title? Not... so she will most likely underperform again - but if she stay injury free - don't mess with Ana in Indian Wells!

Do You know that Ana reach at all day-to-day events after French Open (Premier-5, Premier, Olympics and MM) just about 400 points, similar to Vesna Dolonc case (Jankovic or Jovanovski both reach over 650), and if she not reach Moscow semifinal where she played hers 100% because its 2012 season's last WTA tournament for Ana and she also want to have good preparation for FED CUP final on HC-Indoors surface - even Aleksandra Krunic reach more points than Ana on day-to-day events since RG! But on tournaments where exist day pause for recovering between matches (Grand Slams and also 4 Premier Mandatory events before SF round), Ana reach much more points in last 10-15-20 months than Jelena, Bojana, Vesna and Aleksandra TOGETHER in same period!

Well, if she tanks February, she won't be #12 seed in IW, so she won't do well there. Serena won't play IW, so with her current ranking Ana would be #12 seed, but other girls can easily overtake her ranking spot if she doesn't show up in February.

#23 ·
Yes. It is extremly importatnt for Ana to win Pattaya, at first place because she needs 12th WTA title, she needs to experience the trophy in her hands ASAP. Also, being #11 seed in IW would be a great position. Possible opponents in 4th round would be Errani, Kvitova or Sam, so she would have a great chance for another quarterfinal and clash with some of the top 5 players for the spot in the semis. :)

Srbija, her only titles after RG were MM titles, she reached only one PM final and few other significant SFs (3 to be precise). So, if you believe that she will tank all events apart from slams and PMs for the rest of her career, I need to ask you if believe that she'll ever win a title again.

1. I'm not talking here about Ana's performances in last 5 years, but just about last 20 months when this fitness/body issue become so obvious. Also, in this my recent predictions I'm not saying anything about Ana upcoming results till end of hers career or something like that, but just about next month February if we talking about day-to-day events.
2. You forget that MM-YEC is not classic MM tournaments. So playing just 3 matches overall to reach MM-YEC title where also is included day pause, at seasons ending tournament, is actually argument in my favor! And that MM Linz title coming from season where she worked with Heinz and don't have such fitness problems (for example, hers results at P5 events in 2010 are better than at PM, not way worse like in 2011-2012).
3. "Tank" is not best term to describe this phenom with Ana. Do You really think that Ana played well on Hopman Cup round robin, and than suddenly decide to tank FINAL!? She simple underperform thanks to fitness problems when it come to play day-to-day since 2nd half of 2011, and in other day-to-day cases add fact that she knows that her body will underperform anyway so to prevent injuries she also much more using hers back-up game (and in Ana case plan-A>>>plan-BS). That's why Ana playing already about 20 months in the row on TOP10 level at tournaments with day pause between matches, and barely on TOP100 level at events with day-to-day schedule!
4. If she not improve hers fitness and be able to recover body on daily basis - hers best shots are Indian Wells and Roland Garros, two-weekers where she is multiple finalist and former champion. With this state of fitness and body here is scenario for hers MM title: R1-bye, R2-win, QF-win by w/o, and will be very helpful if during SF or final there will be big rain-delay pauses, but if she must to win 4 matches in 5 days (normal MM/P600 schedule) - I don't see it coming any soon.

Maybe Ana had some indifferent attitude on internationals in last couple of years, but I think situation is completely different now. Ana has 11 title in her career and she must be aware of the fact she should have much more titles, besides, she will be 26 this year, so there is no way that she will not give 100 percent to win this tournament IMO. (at least I hope) The moment is crucial and this is why:
1. Ana needs new title after 14 months.
2. She must try to be Top 12 on WTA before IW and Miami because of the draw.
3. She is a clear favorite in Pattaya, like come on, she must take that.

I agree that big tournaments motivate Ana much more, especially IW and Miami, but I hope she will realize how important for her is the following month.

:)
