6..

She played ok overall in the second set (1st was a disaster in all fronts), but when it mattered (serving to close out the set at 6-5 and in the tie break) Ana served untimely double faults.. so cant say she served well at all. Also had to face 17 BPs..

Well, we got our wish. She always has "the weakest top player" Radwanska in her draw.

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)

Why couldn't she get a slumping Kerber or Stosur instead?

One match at a time though. Pavlyuchenkova has more finals in the past 12 months than Ana remember A Premier final no less.

Waiting for Ana Ivanovic to just retire already .

Yes, one match at a time.. 1st round is already really tough.

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)

Dubai draw would be tough either way, 17 of Top 20 are in MD. It is a good thing for Ana to face Radwanska again and to beat her for once to stop the mental obstacle she sees in Aga. She proved in their last match she knows how to handle Aga (2nd set), and now perhaps she will have the chance to finally beat her. Pavlychenkova and Kvitova are not easy opponents. Good luck Anci!

Re: Going East for Success (February Thread)

Why is that a bad draw?! Pavly is almost Ana's punchbag, Kvitova's form is ALWAYS questionable, you can't say she's BACK after this week's result, Radwanska is the most profitable Top 4 player to face and, if she has any brain, she will learn something from zillions of their matches. It's more about Ana.

This.
But it's just pure optimism.
We can count that Ana in a bad day can lose to herself hitting against the wall.

It was her own wish. Be careful what you wish for.

Unfortunately this year, so far, Ana has been the weakest top player herself.
Let it be a turning point so.
