US Open 2012 - official "Yes she can!" thread

Despite New York this season is MM event for Ana during week1, it still counts like GS, so deserved own thread.

So we have worst ever GS preparation together with best ever 1st week draw (after R1 she is only seeded player left in hers R16 section!)

There is one GM thread "Ana Ivanovic has never reached a slam QF since FO 2008" where I explain influence of tough draws on Ana biggest GS problem:

So after RG/2008 Ana 6 times reached R16 round but never reach next QF round because hers opponents at USO R16 are HC-GOATS Kim and Serena, at Wimby R16 grass-GOAT Venus, this season twice played at slam R16 vs #2 seeded players (Kvitova and Azarenka which she faced twice in R16). For example Kaia Kanepi since RG/2008 reached 4 times GS R16 round and every time reached GS Quarterfinal, but hers opponents in R16 rounds are 18 years old Kvitova (#87 in that time), #66 Zakopalova, #88 Arantxa Rus and only TOP50 player which Kanepi ever faced in R16 at slams are Yanina Wickmayer!
Lets hope that her game will rise with every next round, because it's fact that she come totally unprepared in NY.

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Cmon, Ana, this is not Errani, slay those bitches and make Serena sweat.
Seriously now, I can't see Stephens winning against Ana, especially on AA. She will have no confidence to step to the limit when it matters. Remember her epic choke to Bartoli, Ana is mentally over her.

If I was a mod I'd so move this post to the existing rightful thread.. no need for another one.

Grand Slam is Grand Slam, and deserve own thread, especially in subforum of former #1 player which is still good seeded (#9-#12 group)

What's happen with your spirit and optimism gaviotabr?

You are always trying to open threads when there is another thread already oppened for that tournament. Its just a repeated thread.

I REALLY hope Ana doesn't lose to Stephens. I can't stand that girl, and this might be the best shot in a while for Ana to get into a QF in a grand slam.

I think Stephens will be a test for Ana. Hopefully she'll pass.

Re: US Open 2012 - official "Yes she can!" thread

Sloane is a great player and she will be the toughest test for ana look at what happened last year, sloane was just in the main draw of a slam for the first time.

What ana needs to do is try to be free minded and just hit the ball freely without thinking. She also needs to enjoy herself and dont let her opponent take advantage of her, shes been doing that for the past 3 years now. She use to not really think when she hits, nowadays she just thinks too dam much which leads to more errors than usual which you would think its the other way around

For once, Ana, don't be the one to make someone else's career, you've made enough.

Optimism and Izzy in the same sentence. Sorry, Izzy.

But, I must say, when I was reading some veeeryyy old threads, Izzy was very optimistic and positive. It felt strange to read it.

Anyway, I think that we don't need so many threads. Considering how often she wins, we could easily have just one thread for cheering and update the title.

I am really positive when I think there is reason to be.. unfortunately, Ana killed every positive spur that I had in one blast each time.

I quite like one thread for each part of the season.. easier to find posts like this. But opening a new one for specific tournaments that are already being discussed in another thread is just pointless.. so this thread is sort of pointless.

That's true. But we should have like 6 threads a year then. One for Australia, another for HC season after that, the thread for clay season, grass season, the other part of HC season in USA and the one for the rest of the season.

I really hope she can do it tonight! She needs to focus on her own game.
