Hopefully Ana will have a successful summer! Although she lost badly to Vika, lets try and remember that she beat a seeded player and won two three set matches to reach the fourth round.
Ana's Schedule
August 7: Rogers Cup
August 13: Cincy

Not a very long summer season but hopefully she will use the off time to train.

P.S: Sorry about the title :(

Olympics belong to Grass season.
Rogers Cup we should to ignore.
Cincy not deserve own thread :p

So better rename this thread into something like US Open (& fast hardcourts) thread, which will include Rogers Cup, Cincinnati, USO, Beijing and Tokyo.

I think Olympics is still grass season. Otherwise from Montreal till USO its US hard court summer season.

Montreal draw will be made next monday at 2pm local time. 1st round play to start on tuesday.

Ana will be seeded 11, since Serena is not scheduled to play. So she will get one of Kvitova, Kerber, Caro or Errani in the dreaded 3rd round. That's not too bad actually..

There are only 16 seeds, so a lot of good players will be unseeded and looming, and 1st and 2nd rounds might not be easy.

Ana is defending 125 points from the 3rd round she reached in Toronto last year.

Results from Montreal and Cincy will determine the seedings for the US Open. I think its crucial to keep a top 12 seed. It will be Ana's last shot to post a relevant result in a relevant tournament this season, and it would be better to get one of Sam (pressure of defending title), Kvitova (sucks on courts of the USA), Kerber (pressure of defending semis, 1st tournament she is actually defending big points this season), Caro (hasn't been as good this year), then one of Serena, Vika, Sharapova and Aga. Though now that I'm writting this, I realize Sam, Kerber and Caro were all in the semis last year, while Vika and Sharapova lost in the 3rd round and Aga in the 2nd. Anyway, this is a new year, and top 4 seems very hard to beat.

Yes... I'm hoping for at least that as well. Lets see if Ana can finally reach her 3rd QF of the year.

Ana is already in Montreal:

Ivanovic practicing. Alone with a hitting partner who may be a local guy. No coach. No parents. Like a grownup

Ivanovic's partner today was a kid from my club, Eric Chung. He said he was a WEE bit nervous when he found out last night lol

Ana got a pretty tough draw for Montreal.

bye
Vinci/Wickymayer
Kerber
Stosur/Safarova
Radwanska/NaLi/Errani
Vika/Sharapova//Kvitova/Woz

Very hard to picture Ana beating Kerber to be honest... and Vinci/Wicky should be a very tough 1st match as well.

:sobbing:

I wish Ana had Na Li's draw.. its ridiculously easy.

Ana got the toughest draw of anyone seeded 9-12. :(

1st 2012 US Open series match vs former USO semifinalist.
2nd 2012 US Open series match vs last season USO semifinalist.
3rd 2012 US Open series match vs current USO champion.

But I'm not complain at all... Ana should not travel to that city anyway

i also think that kerber is not a good match-up for ana but i think or like to think that it is not bad in a nid way. meaning, ana should be able to battle her way through. and she can rely on coaching from nigel. i still think his influence is very positive and don't think he is responsible for ana looking like an average 9-12 player.

I'm not saying Nigel is reponsible for Ana looking average... mostly she is responsible.. with the lack of dedication, and lack of fitness, so on.. but they both choose a game path that has a dead end for Ana.. that won't really lead her anywhere.

@AnitaIvanovic Can't say I was impressed with her forehand during practice. But her serves were not bad. Can't wait to see her play a match.
