Re: Ana's greatest win

that was her best win title wise obviously, but other matches have been better wins IMO..not too sure which
maybe sharapova F0 07 semi or jankovic 08 semi

Lucie Safarova, Anna-Lena Groenefeld, Agnieszka Radwanska

Honourable mention to but not my personal favorite - Vaidisova @ Wimbledon 07 QF saving 3 match points

What happen to that Ana

In that match Ana was able to win the second and the third sets.. Where are you real Ana?

Re: Ana's greatest win

Obviously Ana's best win, title wise, was the Roland Garros final. I think her best win, confidence wise and opponent wise, was beating Venus at AO 08. Ana had never even taken a set off of Venus in their 4 previous encounters, and managed to beat her in straight sets in Melbourne. I'm pretty sure that win was very important for Ana's confidence.

Re: Ana's greatest win

I've been an Ana's fan since RG 2007, but i started following her really just in Fall 2007... so I didn't witness what is probably the most exciting moment of her career so far. But for me the best win was probably Hantuchova in AO 2008, she was just made of steel and determination in that match

That match against Hantuchova was so awesome. I remember I stayed up until 5am. watching it, and when it was over, I was sooo pumped up I couldn't sleep.. I was like jumping up and down in my room, hoping I wouldn't wake up anyone...

In that match Ana was also able to win the second and third sets.. she was so strong, she just kept going and never gave up. Where is this Ana? I can't take anymore third sets mental walkabouts...

Re: Ana's greatest win

I think Ana's best win, performance wise, was probably against Schnyder in Stuttgart 2007. Ana was almost flawless in that match.

I don't even remember whether i watched it live or on livestream... but I was so shocked that she won after that deficit She was just so self-confident (a little part of it was probably due to fact that she knew Hantuchova would choke sooner or later)

Re: Ana's greatest win

Two stick out in my mind -

Venus at AO - To beat a Williams sister in straight sets in a GS QF is an amazing achievement

Safina at RG - It was a GS final, and she played brilliantly, mentally, tactically, she was hitting winners all over the place and the win was never in doubt.

Ivanovic * Kvitova * Serena

She was self-confident, but also strong in these situations.. From Amelia Island 2007 to Wimbledon 2008, Ana played 25 3 set matches, winning 21. Out of these 21, 9 were come from behind wins. Out of the 4 3 setters she lost, in only 1 Ana had won the first set. Very solid numbers.

From Montreal 08 to Miami 09, Ana played 14 3 set matches, winning only 5. Out of this 5, only 1 was a come from behind win, against Vinci in Brisbane. Out of the matches she lost, only 1 was a come from behind loss, against Cibulkova in Moscow.. all the others Ana had lost the first set, recovered in the second and completely gone away in the third. Weak numbers.

Ana has lost some mental edge along the way somehow.. it's pretty obvious from the stats. I'm sure she would have lost that match to Hantuchova if it was played today, as Ana wouldn't have allowed or given time (and balls into the court) for Hantuchova to choke.

She did lost her mental edge, she used to pretty much own the current top 10 except the Williams sisters and Dementieva and she could challenge Sharapova. Now it's like she was re-attracted into the mental mess of WTA at the moment, she used to be not as tough as the Williams and Sharapova but right behind them... Hopefully that Ana can come back

I want tough Ana back!

Ana has lost her last 4 matches against top 10 players. I can't believe Ana lost twice in a row to Zvonareva..

I think the injury, the timing of the injury and the bad losses really messed up with her head..
