Re: Clay court season 2008
I have to come here because there's too much negativity in the GM regarding Ana's chances of defending her clay season points. With that said, I am a little worried. I hope she can do well in Berlin, but, if not, she always has Rome. However, if she does well in Rome, she doesn't usually do well in the follow-up tournament, which would be the French Open in this case.
Best Case Scenario: Defend Berlin.
The title defense will be difficult, but it will re-establish her as the threat that she is. Also, she could then ride high into Rome, where the pressure is off anyway.
Looking to the French Open, I'm pretty confident with any draw that she gets. I really don't foresee her bombing out before the QF. However, it would be good to avoid dangerous floaters like the currently hot Zvonareva. From that point, I think she can take out any of the Top 8 if needed. After taking Henin to three sets in Sydney, I think she's ready for a victory. The Williams sisters or Sharapova could also be challenging, but clay puts her in the best position for a victory.
