Soap operas are popular with many girls and women in all countries though, as far as I know.
I'd say my class is 50-50 men and women. Telenovelas, especially the ones airing at 21h are popular with everyone, male or female. But maybe a lot of the guys just took the chance to get the night free. Avenida Brasil, which was this particular novela, was considered a phenomenon though.. not all are this popular. It was not a romance.. it was a story of vengeance.. romances were only an afterthought.. something like american TV series Revenge.

OMG.. Those are some pretty trashy ones. Brazilian novelas are better TBH.

Re: Ana's little posse: Introduction/Off-topic thread!!!

Globo made a full trailer of my favorite novela dubbed in spanish with english subtitles, to sell it abroad.. The voices are so so.. gets so much more dramatic in spanish! LOL But love it how they made the whole story in 4 minutes.

I do like some of them!

The spanish voices sound SO dramatic though, as if they are always crying.. the voice is such a big part of an actors work, it loses much of the feel I think.

i guess they like it dramatic in hispanic countries i'm sure the dramatic voices in hispanic telenovelas contribute most to their cheesiness. it's not like the american or any other soap operas are more intellectually demanding. in all honesty, i do think that at least in the brazilian telenovelas you can find more comical stuff which makes them more watchable even if you hate stuff like that.

Diagnosis: Ana's winning at Miami would help for sure, but SFs will be enough

I've already watched this match, the full match, about 10.000 times.

Right now watching old Ana only makes me more depressed.. I feel like this one died, and a clone replaced her and the clone is malfunctioning.
