CLAY SEASON Pre-Ana Švajnštajger Era is #Done: CAREER IS OVER.

Our beloved Anita has only won two clay titles in her whole career:

Berlin 2007 (def. Kuznetsova 3-6 6-4 7-6(4) in the final). Broke into Top 10 for the first time with this title.

This match reminds me why I became a fan of Ana, feels like an eternity ago:

2008 ROLAND GARROS (def. Safina 6-4 6-3 in the final). First GS title and rose to #1 in the world.

#1 reaching moment: SF win (def. Jankovic 6-4 3-6 6-4). I watched this very own ESPN broadcast. I have this whole video memorized. :tears:

Championship match:

Yes, only two titles. But we treasure these two titles. I mean, the moments and achievements that Ana made speak for themselves.

And unlike Medina Garrigues or Smashnovas of this world, these two titles are better than 9019271517919 clay MMs.

Back to reality:

Anita has so much important and better things to do now. Many, many things have changed ever since the moments above. Priorities now inlcude being with her boo, waiting for miracles and making fitness videos. Planning the perfect wedding is CRUCIAL.

So, when she feels like picking up a racket.... This is where her team signed her up for:

Week of April 18th:
Porsche Tennis Grand Prix - Stuttgart, Germany
Category: Premier 470
Surface/Conditions: Red Clay/Indoors
Last year result: 1R FLOP to García for the 9172615183926th time.
Best result: 2014 Finalist

Week of May 2nd:
Mutua Madrid Open - Madrid, Spain
Category: Premier Mandatory
Surface/Conditions: Red Clay/Outdoors
Last year result: 3R mess loss to Suárez Navarro.
Best result: 2013 Semifinalist.

Week of May 9th:
Internazionali BNL D'Italia - Rome, Italy
Category: Premier 5
Surface/Conditions: Red Clay/Outdoors
Last year result: 1R FLOP in a shitfest to Gavrilova.
Best result: 2010/2014 Semifinalist.

Weeks of May 23rd and 3rd:
Roland Garros - Paris, France
Category: GRAND SLAM
Surface/Conditions: Red Clay/Outdoors
Last year result: SF MIRACLE. Loss to Safarova. Yeah, don't remind me of that first set.
Best result: 2008 CHAMPION.

Ana basically doesn't defend anything until Paris, but hasn't done much this year coming into the dirt so her ranking is still hovering barely inside the Top 20. Points must be gained somehow or after the French things will get really ugly.

Oh, and don't kill Nigel. Think of the poor man's heart.

AJDE AND LET'S HOPE FOR MIRACLES. As she stated herself:

Re: CLAY SEASON: Wedding preparations and maybe play tennis.

I think she will get married after grass season.. and that's probably the most interesting thing that will happen all year. That's a lot to say, because I'm not remotely interested in Ana's personal life.

Same here and that's more likely what's gonna happen. But the perfect wedding preparations TAKE TIME and Anci is already thinking about it as the potential date approaches.

I don't either. Everything that has to do with her personal life is her business and her decisions. This thread is talk about tennis (but we know she has other stuff in her mind, hence the thread title). She still has a positive (barely) H2H ratio this year 8-7. I'm curious and afraid to know where it'll be after the clay.

Movement on clay is very different. It will be like a different season, probably another bad one, but she may try to get in form before RG...

Re: CLAY SEASON: Wedding preparations and maybe play tennis.

I fear about her attitude.

I believe she could sometimes still pick up her game to play 1-2 good match on her best surface. Seriously, game-wise, she had the opportunity to win today as long as she avoids hitting to Timea's BH in some of the key points in the first set, but she deserves to lose. Despite having no weapon and serve, the tour is a mess that she's still slightly better than some of those... However, that pathetic attitude that happens again and again is worrisome. She's not even gonna beat Svitolina or JJ with that attitude, let alone challenging seeds/top players.

I do hope she would be more motivated after the wedding, if it's what distracts her at this moment. She seems to only care about Olympics this year... I just hope she would regain the fire and determination to win in this mini-break until Stuttgart, and heal that knee so that she won't have any excuses

The thread title!!!!:worship::hearts:

For sure she is distracted but not seeing a change after that wedding. On twitter one write: Sears is trying all but Ana only wants to get in bed with Bastian! That will not chnge after the wedding and seem the problem core in my opinion. She is focused on her probably extraordinary quality time with him. Tennis is chanceless against his super power. :help:

actually studies have shown that sex after marriage can decrease sometimes by as much as 100%

but obviously this study was done on ordinary non-ana ivanovic type people so im not sure how relevant it is

Re: CLAY SEASON: Wedding preparations and maybe play tennis.

All of this happened before and she wasn't getting married... back in 2014 she wanted to regain her name as a power/star in the tour but it was done with end of that season ...the next step in her mind is finding a new big title GS/Olympic medal ..but how can she find her form there if she doesn't even try to comeback after losing a set in very winnable matches!!!!!
About her coach I think that the last thing she needs is someone who calms her down and tells her that losing a set isn't the end of the world and that she was doing well... her results could have been very different with another coach even with the same work she does between tournaments.

Re: CLAY SEASON: Wedding preparations and maybe play tennis.

How on earth most random people PEAK at the events where they draw Ana. Pliskova was awful since the beginning of the season, then she suddenly comes to IW, trashes Ana and other people to reach semifinals. Now Bacsinszky. Not only she beat Ana, here she is sending Radwanska out and probably Halep too. Another somehow random semifinalist who peaked when Ana was on their way. :tears:

I feel like Ana is having a huge role in making people's careers. :hysteric:

CLAY SEASON? Who the hell knows. Right now Ana doesn't even want to play tennis.

Re: CLAY SEASON aka Pre-Ana Švajnštajger ERA: Wedding preparations and maybe play ten

I've been studying nearly all day preparing for exams.

But I decided to take a break and update the OP.

Honestly, when I was halfway through it I wondered if I should've invested this bit of effort considering Ana doesn't even want to do that on court these days. But it's done. Sorry if it sucks. #ITried

Re: CLAY SEASON aka Pre-Ana Švajnštajger ERA: Wedding preparations and maybe play ten

Also, someone told me Ana is playing Fed Cup.

Serbia is hosting Belgium on indoor clay the weekend right before Stuttgart.

Haven't heard anything about it and I don't think Ana will play hence why I didn't list it. If a miracle does happen and she DOES play, please let me know and I'll update. :hatoff:

Bye, Fed Cup. :wavey:

Nice while it lasted.

I'll remember the wins over Kvitova in Prague, Kerber in Stuttgart, Halep in Bucharest.... The 2012 final run more than anything.

Also, I'm glad Milan and Ivan got to see Anci live in Novi Sad against Paraguay last year.

Another cycle comes to an end.

Re: CLAY SEASON aka Pre-Ana Švajnštajger ERA: Wedding preparations and maybe play ten

My Serbian is not so good

But if my translation is right, she's not playing Fed Cup anymore because she's not happy with all the attacks and negative comments she gets from her country?

And I can't even disagree with her. She did enough for her country, and some people just treat her bad.

Yes, the title says Ana is tired of all the attacks coming from her country.

Beginning of the end :sad::sad:

Her Fed Cup match vs Kerber was by far my favorite one. That was such a fight our there on the court :worship:

Ana Ivanović retires from Fed Cup Serbia.

Is this only the first step? We should prepare guys...

Both, Milan and I have seen Ana's last match for FC, live in my city, Novi Sad... The only time both of us have seen Ana in action live.

Nice move, Ana! :armed:

I was scared to death when I see "Ana Ivanovic retires..." on GM  even though I've asked her to retire rather than embarrassing herself on court :tears:

Now only if you could show the world as well that you're not weak and would still like to achieve some big thing on court :hysteric:
