Top 30 Players in ITFs

Do we continue to allow top 30 players to play freely in ITF tournaments?

The board decided that there should be 2 options in this poll. Firstly that players can compete in any tournament they wish, and secondly that although top 30 players will NOT be banned from ITFs, they will be treated as Late Entries, much like on mtf. in this way, top 30 players would NEVER take the place of lower-ranked players, but may still be able to compete in some of the tournaments.

Come on the Bhoys!

Re: Top 30 Players in ITFs

Top 30 players do not play many ITF events so I don't think it's worth banning. Most likely it's a few weeks in the off season, then second week of slams if they lose early. Otherwise, they surely play WTA events and newcomers/low ranked players have many tournaments to play too. Also, most weeks have several ITF events, especially in the off season. I think that's fair and should continue to remain that way.

I agree with this proposal, but voted for the new rule.

but somehow I can't help from hoping
to find someone to talk to
who likes the way I am
who when he sees me wants to again

What I meant was "no, if there's a WTA tournament that week"

Re: Top 30 Players in ITFs

And how often it happens that the top 30 player chooses to play an ITF tournament instead of WTA? It can´t be happening too often. We used to have such rule, but decided to remove it as pointless and unnecessary. Has the situation really changed?

Re: Top 30 Players in ITFs

I said the new rule, but only applying it to the ITFs played during off-season (+ YEC weeks)

1 in 20 people has been a victim of crime. Which means that 19 out of 20 people are criminals.

Tennis Tipping:
Singles (CHR#17) - Copenhagen 10 Beijing 11 Pattaya 12
Doubles (CHR#1) - Cincinnati 09 Hobart 16(w/Drake1980) ; Auckland Copenhagen 10 Palermo 11 Stuttgart Baku 12 Palermo 13 (w/Richie's) ; Monterrey 14 (w/Adrian.) USO 14 Moscow Hong Kong New Haven 15(w/Frederik) Prague Madrid 16 (w/Buitenzorg)

Re: Top 30 Players in ITFs

IMO top30 players should never be allowed to play ITFs, even during off season because it's already hard enough for newcomers to climb the ranking and then you can see top30 players steal points who can even not count for the rank
or during off season you can make an itf per week where only top30 players can play

I would support this suggestion to have one ITF per week in the off-season where the top 30 players can play - maybe the highest value ITF that week. If other lower ranked players enter this tournament then they risk having to play in the qualies.
