By now I'm sure most of you are familiar with the difficult situation that has taken place at the Wimbledon 2007 tournament. Due to the massive rain, Wimbledon changed their normal scheduling and split the R16 and QF matches into seperate days, which has added two extra days to the normal Wimbledon point distribution on short notice.
Two slams, the Australian Open and US Open, are normally 12 day tournaments and thus these split rounds ARE normal. However, at the French and Wimbledon, they are supposed to be 10 day tournaments, which greatly affects the strategies Suicide Tennis players employ.
Things got heated in the Wimbledon 2007 because it was decided to turn Suicide Wimbledon into a 12 day tournament like the US and Australian Opens. Much drama and anger ensued.
This was based on the fact that during normal situations, managers usually delete days when they are washed out, so they were added in this time when the scheduling changed. We do have a history of deleting days, but this was perhaps the first (or more controversial, at any rate) time days were added.
Many players feel that the game should change ITS scheduling a little bit, and should change from a Day-to-Day game OOP based on the actual tournament OOP, at some point it should be based on ROUNDS.
For instance, Suicide Wimbledon's Day 08 matches would be ALL Quarterfinal matches, no matter when they were played... rather than making Day 08 the two QF matches that were actually scheduled and played, and creating a different Day 09 to pick from the other two matches.
I leave it up to you. What do you think should be done? Should a change be made? And, should this rule be in effect for ALL tournaments, not just slams (the third to last day being picking from ANY quarterfinal match, the second to last day being picking from EITHER semifina match and the last obviously being the final).
