STAR SPORTS (Asia) Tennis Bash(ing) 2006

or at this year's 2006 Australian Open?

Yes, it's that time of year when STAR SPORTS tortures fans based on this side of the world with weird, Allen Wilkens, biased or down right mental broadcasting choices of matches.

We tennis fans of rival players unite to find one common enemy, but wait
VJ Amitraj probably won't be here, since it's not his club like the All England Lawn Cricket, and Tennis Club. Wimbledon, to non-exlusive paupers like you or me. No, our common enemy for two weeks will be STAR SPORTS!

I'm not holding my breath to see Justine on Vodafone day 1, because damn...there's Peng Shuai on some parking lot court in the back that they may have to air during the same time frame. But, hey at least Sania isn't in our half of the draw, and I won't have to hear her called the "world's greatest forehand, and future grand slam winner".

Send the (cough, cough) love to this address..

True, but we'll be stuck all day hearing about how great she is... with interviews, mini profiles , day in the life of Sania!, the day that Sania played Serena at the AO 2005...

The tv coverage starts at 8:00am (S'pore/HK/China) time Monday. And we should be able to see Lindsay- from here on?

By the way on Friday- we won't get the full day session. They're showing "live" basketball midday or something..

Friday Jan 20
8:00am- 11:30am (day session)
Basketball
2pm- 8pm (ending of day session. Night session)

its not as if starsports knew which half is playing when they scheduled to put basketball....anyway, it's just 2 and a half hours cut off. no big deal

The problems you guys have with asians, we are having something similar in US. We get to see matches of others ONLY when no american is playing. Even Kevim Kim's (a lowly ranked american in men's side) match would be preferred by ESPN2 over matches of JHH, Momo, etc. So, its a problem everywhere.

I had similar problems with Wimbledon last year. Eurosport has no rights to broadcast it, so I watched it on German DSF. For example they showed 4 or 5 hours long marathon between Arthurs and Popp (GER) which ended about 15-13 in the 5th set instead of some brilliant matches ... Same with Kiefer, Mayer etc... Thx God Haas and Groenefeld were knocked out in the first round
But that fact really makes me appreciate the work of Eurosport International. They really show these matches which promise to be the best ones. Hopefully they will keep it up throughout Aussie Open this year

Ana Ivanović.

I guess, every country should have TWO channels showing tennis full-time during grand slams. One of them should show all the great matches going on, and the other focussing on their local heroes. That should pacify most people. However, there would still be ppl unhappy, particular ppl who live in a different country and wanting to follow their local players closely. But then, World is not fair to everyone!
