At this point, I can only guess. Since she seems to be physically unable to combine both double and solo playing styles, I guess she'll stopped playing double if she approaches the top 10 once again. Right now she's mainly looking to get some matches under her belt. Meanwhile we can only celebrate that she's back on courts

For those who care, Kirilenko and Cirstea lost (after the super tie-break, 10-8) against Chan sisters in Charleston QF. :\

Bummer.

Where does Maria play next?

Captain Matthew Gideon: I may have an idea.
Dureena Nafeel: I don't think you've recovered from your last good idea.
Captain Matthew Gideon: That would explain it.

Re: Comeback in Charleston!

I think Oeiras, Madrid and Rome are next touraments for Kiri.
Bencic is into semis in Charleston, so Kiri wasn"t lucky at all with Q she got in R1.

Jelena Jankovic
Maria Kirilenko
Ana Ivanovic
Genie Bouchard

Basically her clay season will consist of these tournaments and the French Open.
Maybe she should have played at least one more. I mean, it's not like she's likely to get lots of deep run at the moment.

Although she lost to BB Gun, it's great to see her back on the court!

Re: Comeback in Charleston!

Oh no. This one match can not have resulted in another injury or can it? Really worrying. Will she ever really come back? Would be a shame, the WTA is so open right now, with Sharapova, Azarenka amd Williams all having problems. They have been all three so super stable when Kiri was playing well, so unlucky .

She may have come back gotten beaten by and unknown and thought it's not worth it to her. If Kiri as I expect has lost some of her desire and work ethic after she won a olympic medal in 2012 and finally made the top 10 last June then she will just be a punching bag for most players the rest of her career. I do not want to see that for Maria. I only want her to continue with her career if she can give the kind of effort and train very hard like she used to.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett

Re: Comeback in Charleston!

Me too. She needs to be 100% fit otherwise she has no chance against most players. Only if she can rally with them she can use her smartness and ability to come to the net and beat most of them as we all know. But if she isn't fit she will already lose simple baseline rallies against most of the players and I really don't want to see this.

Ugh. That's not a good sign.

I really hope she didn't injury herself again after so little play.
