Miami [hoping for better things...]

I know it's still a week and a half away, but I'm going to be there so I'm really excited.

I've been there twice and seen Maria both years (2005 & 2006).

She beat Chakvetadze 7-5 6-3 in 2005 when I saw her and almost beat Sharapova lost year so hopefully she plays well again this year when I see her.

I'll be there from the 2nd round all the way through the semifinals so I'll provide reports and hopefully pictures.

Good luck Maria!

That awesome Derek! You to be a good luck charm for Maria. So u'll have to go to all her matches.

If she loses then we'll know u werent there and we can blame u.

The woods are hopeless. Don't waste your time, they will be destroyed. So will the marsh. It is a losing game mankind has played for more than a century. Sadness is what you are, do not deny it. The universe is a lonely place, a painful place. This is what we can share between us, period.

It will be a surprise.

I hoped the doubles pairing with Martina would be last the year, and she would try and learn something from her. You'd have thought taking her 2nd dbls title in two years would have rang bells somewhere. But it seems that's dead, and back to playing with Ana Ivanovic, from whom she will learn nothing.

Hopefully you watching her would mean a good thing for Maria and she starts playing well again.

I'll be going as well. I can't wait. Makiri better not lose so early though. It'd be very disappointing.

I was hoping the same thing for Makiri also. You would think having the sweet taste of victory again would have stirred up something deep in Makiri's heart and soul. Being able to play and win with a proven champ like Hingis would have helped her in some way with her singles play, but I guess we will have to wait and see. A coach would help her greatly.
