Kimiko Date

Hey guys, I just watched an old tape, the 1996 Wimbledon Semis, Date vs Graf and just thought if there were any other Kimiko fans out there??
Date was/is one of my favourite players, she had such a different but attractive style of play and always seemed to have such interesting matches.

I've also got her 96 Fed Cup win against Steffi (great match! ) and I think these two matches show just good she was and could have been!!

I couldn't believe it when she retired at such a young age, but it was the right decision for her, saying she had achieved all she wanted to and more and that there were other things she wanted to do in her life. Better I think to retire at the very top of your game!

BTW does anyone know what she is up to now??

Lucic
Halep
Kvitova

I am a fan! There is a thread of her somewhere around here, I'll try and bump it up for ya.

But I agree we were all deeply saddened to see her go but at least we do remember her for being at the top of her game when she left...
