Thanks to Rollo for originally creating this thread, and for have given me the responsibility of the new thread, that is for listing ladies tennis championship winners by event.

When a tennis player marries I will use both the maiden name and the married name, in chronological order, and I will maintain them in following years. ( It will be difficult with some divorced and remarried players.... but I will try to always use the maiden name and the married name at the time she was playing. )
When a married player doesn't use her married name ( that so doesn't appear in the honour rolls ) , I will use the maiden name only.

Obviously every correction and addition will be very welcome!

1914-20 Tournament not held due to World War One and aftermath

1921 Ilse Weihermann Friedleben d. Toni Weihermann [score?]
Thanks, but in 1914 it was held, with these results:

May 9-14, Wiesbaden, Germany (Clay)

FI: Elizabeth Ryan (US) d. Nelly Bamberger 6-2 6-2

MX: Elizabeth Ryan (US)/Robert Kleinschroth d. Nelly Bamberger/Otto Froitzheim default

Some additional information on tournaments featured in this thread:

Bad Homburg

1932 Tournament not held
1933 Tournament not held
1937 Tournament not held
1938 Tournament not held
--

Championships of Berlin

1935 Tournament not held
--

Frankfurt-am-Main

There was no big international tournament in Frankfurt-am-Main for most of the 1930s.
--

Munich/Bavarian Championships

The Munich tournament lost some of its prestige in the early 1930s and can't really be compared to the Bavarian Championships tournament of earlier years (and after the end of World War Two).

1928 Tournament not held
1933 Tournament not held

Bad Homburg
1932 Hilde Krahwinkel d. Marie-Luise Horn 6-1 6-0

Yes, the Munich tournament lost some of its prestige in the early 1930s, but it remained Bavarian Championships.

Yours is a specious reasoning, because in Bad Homburg's roll (as in most cases of our rolls) there are not several events, but just one.
And as our honour rolls are related to tennis tournaments, not fashion shows or beauty contests, if I write "Not held" it's obvious that I refer to a tournament.

Swiss Covered Court Championships

1932 Lolette Payot d. Simone Barbier (FRA) 6-2, 6-0*

* This result is already included in the yearly threads along with the results from the two doubles events featuring women. Held towards the end of the year, usually circa mid-November, this tournament was clearly considered as valid for the following year.

Yes, you are correct.

I am making specific researches on Le Figaro, and I see that the misunderstanding is born from the below honour roll by Swiss Federation, that I have posted sometimes, where the years are related to tournaments played the previous year.
Therefore I will correct years and results on our honour roll.

Evidently "Tennis und Golf" wronged, because the next men's edition will be the 98th edition of Bavarian International Championships (started in 1900s), as you can see in Official Website:
http://bmwopen.de/aktuell/

Could it have been changed back retroactively?

Here's what I can add to your honor roll of the Western Province Championships. it comes from pages 64-65 of the South African Story, by Russell Eldridge in 1978.

I've printed them as they are in the book. You could, in my view, put 1905/06 as 1906 as long as we make clear it started late one year and ended early the next. So perhaps 1924/25 could be 1925 (Jan)

Thanks Rollo, I have added your contribution.
About the above 4 years your book is certainly correct in first 3, because I have found the 1973 edition, played in December 1972 and won by Walsh.
About the 1976 edition we are not sure, because it should have been played in December 1975 but we have the Boshoff's win in our 1977 thread. Maybe Boshoff has won twice, in 1976 and 1977 editions.

Good find LKK! Thanks, I have added them :yeah:

I have inserted the 2nd tournament under "U" as United States National Public Parks Champs.
And thanks to you I have discovered that Martha Guthrie is the later Martha Snowden, several times winner at Western Pennsylvania Championships.
