Re: The Official Married Names Thread

I'd count this as a "possible" rather than a certainty.
N. Polley (India)
Olympic Games 1924 representative and All-India champion.
Possibly her? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FG4M-2H3
Married Sydney Polley of the Indian Army 1915
Possibly died in England c.1960-70.
Any more information out there?

From the London "Times", 4 August 1939: "The King and Queen sent Miss Thelma Cazalet, M.P., a dessert service of Coalport china on the occasion of her marriage to Mr David Keir, which took place yesterday in the Crypt Chapel, House of Commons. Princess Beatrice sent a gilt lamp, and Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone, and Major General the Earl of Athlone, gave antique Chinese ornaments.

"The French ambassador sent a crocodile-leather powder compact. The Prime Minister and Mrs Neville Chamberlain gave gilt apostle-spoons and the Speaker of the House of Commons gave a Sheraton tea-caddy. Members of the Cabinet and many Members of Parliament also sent gifts.

"The bridegroom is the son of the late Rev. Thomas Keir, of Lauder and Dumfries, and of Mrs Keir, and the bride is the daughter of the late Mr W.M. Cazalet, and of Mrs Cazalet, of Fairlawne, Tonbridge, and 33 Belgrave Square..."

Re: The Official Married Names Thread

Good finds Jimbo! I can add a first name for Schmitt.

SUZANNE SCHMITT
Married D. Le Besnerais, 27 September 1954

His name was Denys. He died in 2000.

MARIA TORT
Chile
Born
Married Luis Alberto Ayala Salinas, 3 January 1959

Note that Luis was always listed as Luis Ayala in results, without Salinas. Ditto for Maria, who was listed as Maria Ayala and not Maria Salinas.

Re: The Official Married Names Thread

Piggybacking on Mark's find I came up with:

Myer, GOLDA
United States (California)
Born 22 December 1887
Died 10 May 1955
Married Lee Worthington Gross (1889-1969) after January 1911 and before mid 1912.

]In the 1920 census her spouse listed as Lee W Gross-with children Lee M (born January 1913) and Robert W (born circa 1916). Note that papers in 1910 refer to her as Miss Myer more often than Meyer, but both are used. Name errors in papers appear common, as the birth of her son Lee gives husband’s name as “Grose”.

An article from January 11, 1911 in the San Francisco Call indicated she was embarking on as European tour. Perhaps she wed during this tour. A Miss Myer or Mrs Gross from the US playing abroad in 1911 is likely to be her.

She had a prolific carreer span-contesting a Washington State singles final vs Gracyn Wheeler as late as 1933.
