A very interesting article about the greatest challenge of Gigi's life.

Any experienced parents here? Gigi needs some advice:

From what I've read, I am a bit afraid of Fernández now. She sounds like a very intense person.

I think you're right. Let's support her, after all those years of great tennis with charm and humor, of course together with Natasja. Are there parents on this forum who can help her with her 17 months old kids, screaming out loud?

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

Gigi was my first ever favourite player and was the one that really got me hooked on following the Tour!!

Loved her on court, her tennis and humour...didn't always like her off court, used to find her a bit intimidating in person

I still find it interesting to read about her, but there are many things that annoy me about her now, she always has to brag excessively (yep about her past achievements but even about the IQ of the sperm donor used) and everything with her seems like a business opportunity....even her children. Getting them involved in sport at such a young age...yes I know she's a retired pro-sports woman...but please, these are babies and they should be having fun, learning and playing....not be moulded into wannabe pro-athletes at this age.

Another thing I find annoying...she says how long she wanted to have children, how many years she went through IVF treatment....so why put them in daycare at 17 months old? If they are screaming and upset at daycare, it shows they are not ready for it...maybe Gigi should take some time out to have 'fun' and enjoy being with her children whilst they are still young...forget the pro-sport obsession, forget the buisness plan (she has enough money) forget the daycare and just enjoy being the children that she had wanted for so long

btw - Sorry if I sound impatient with her, but I don't think it's right to be so intense about sport which such young babies

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

I always thought Fernandez was easygoing and playful but this article doesn't suggest that at all. But then again I'm not a woman in my mid-40's who desperately wants a kid. haha Geeddes sounds like the balance that Gigi needs in her life. Best of luck to their family.

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

It seems that the drop off problems are solved:

http://twitter.com/gigifernandez/status/27032134618

http://twitter.com/gigifernandez/status/27437826527

Finally some good news. Pity that she does not say why there are no drop off dramas any more. It would be interesting to know if she changed something to improve the situation or if the kids just got used to it now as time went by, that they just needed their time to adapt. Hopefully they really adapted in a healthy way now, and not simply resigned because their protests didn't have any effect.

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

It almost looks like as if Gigi gave up on her blog, no new posts since more than a month now.

http://babygoespro.wordpress.com/

I'm not a huge fan of her, but the blog always was an interesting read (although it obviously also is meant to be promotion for her company, of course ).

And I find it strange that there are almost no comments from readers. It's a great opportunity to get in touch with a tennis legend, but people don't seem to be interested.

Does she still collect pigs?

If so, then maybe there is a sensational opportunity to give her collection an exceptional boost.

There was an offer on Ebay.de a week ago. The auction didn't get any bids, so I guess that the piggies are still available for sale and they will be listed again. A whole collection of 3000 different pieces () including proper furnishings for storage:

Another interesting article about Gigi's new life as a mother. It's in Spanish, but the Google translation into English is pretty acceptable:

And don't miss the video and the photos. Gorgeous kids she has.

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

Gigi's twitter isn't just entertaining, it's also educating. Thanks to her and her daughter I learned today what challah is:

http://twitter.com/gigifernandez/sta...63343345287168

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challah

... and interesting also that the challah is similar to something I often like to eat, a kind of bread which is called Hefezopf here. I learned something new today, so it's not a wasted day. Thanks Gigi!

499 right now. But she is right, there were 500 followers some hours ago, I saw it too.

I'm not sure if it is an "effective" strategy to get 1000 followers to offer a free tennis lesson to follower #1000. People might wait for others so that they have a chance to get the gift *LOL*.

Re: Gigi's story: female athletes risk deferring dream of parenthood too long

Gigi had a wax replica of herself made for the Puerto Rican museum of sports:

It is really amazing what a complex and time-consuming procedure this is:
